The important dates for the Biotechnology Eligibility Test have been released. The application process for the same will end on 22nd March 2019, and the date for the examination has been decided to be conducted on 14th April 2019. The eligibility test will be conducted to churn out candidates for the Department of Biotechnology – Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF) programme that will be held under the guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Government of India.

The fellowship programme has been planned for the aspirants who want to pursue research in the subject areas of Life Sciences and Biotechnology. The BET or the Biotechnology Eligibility Test is a compulsory test for the ones who desire to pursue the fellowship programme.

BET 2019 Eligibility Criteria

For the ones who are planning to take this test, must know about the eligibility criteria required for giving the BET 2019. The eligibility norms state that the candidates must have Masters degree precisely an M.Tech / M.Sc / M.V.Sc or equivalent degree or integrated degree in B.S – M.S / B.Tech in any specified discipline of Biotechnology / B.E / M.Tech or M.Sc in Bioinformatics and/or other related courses. A minimum of 60% aggregate for General category and 55% aggregate for Differently Abled / ST / SC / Women Candidates is a must.

Interested applicants must also know that the age limit for this examination for the general category candidates is up to 28 years as on 22nd March 2019. For the Differently Abled / ST / SC / Women Candidates a relaxation of 5 years has been provided, whereas the relaxation for Non-Creamy Layer or OBC candidates is of 3 years.

BET 2019 Application Process

The BET 2019 Application Process will undergo specific procedures and steps. It is important for the candidates to understand each of these steps clearly and carefully in order to avoid any kind of mistake and misunderstanding. Applicants must also be aware of the eligibility criteria before they land up to submit the application form. If due to any reason the candidates fail to satisfy the eligibility norms, their application form will get rejected from the concerned authorities. Given below is the detailed procedure of the Application Process of BET 2019.

  • In order to apply for the BET, 2019 examination candidates must visit the official website of Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL).

  • Once the candidates visit the official website they will have to create their profile by registering themselves on the site.

  • After the completion of the registration process, candidates will be allowed to login with the system generated ID and Password.

  • This will lead candidates to the application form through which they will submit their details along with the asked documents.

  • The application form is categorised into four sections, each of which needs to be filled in correctly.

  • These sections include Personal Details, Qualification Details, Document Upload and Declaration.

  • The last stage in the application submission will be the submission of the application fee.

  • The application fee for General, OBC and EWS category candidates is Rs 1,000, whereas, the fee for the Differently Abled, ST and SC is Rs 250.

  • This will complete the BET 2019 Application Process and the candidates will become eligible to appear for the examination.

BET 2019 Exam Pattern and Syllabus

Biotechnology Eligibility Test 2019 will follow a format of multiple choice question (MCQ) which will be divided into two sections – Part – A and Part – B. Part A will constitute of questions from the field of General Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, General Aptitude, Quantitative Ability, Analytical, General Biotechnology, etc. Part B, on the other hand, will have questions from the main streams of Biotechnology.

Result Declaration and Issuance of Award

Candidates appearing for the test must most importantly remember that the final selection will include the reservation parameters as the norms decided by the Government of India. The BET 2019 Result will be declared on 22nd May 2019 with the declaration of merit lists. This merit list will be the deciding factor for the issuance of award among the candidates who will successfully clear the examination. On the basis of the candidates’ performance in the BET 2019, two different categories of merit lists will be prepared namely, Category – 1 and Category – 2. Candidates selected under Category – 1 will entitle candidates to pursue Ph.D. from any institution or university under the claimed fellowship. Category – 2 candidates will eligible to be appointed in any Department of Biotechnology (DBT) sponsored project and claim fellowship from the project equivalent to GATE/NET programme.
