Does SLAT Accept Compartmental Candidates?

Yes, SLAT accepts compartmental candidates, but there are certain conditions. Students with a compartment can apply for the exam, provided they clear their compartment exam before the final admission deadline at Symbiosis Law Schools (SLS). The major eligibility criteria for SLAT are the final Class 12 result, so compartmental students might be given provisional admission. It will only be confirmed after your compartmental result is cleared and your updated marksheet is submitted.

SLAT Rules for Compartmental Students

To secure admission to Symbiosis Law Schools through SLAT, the compartmental candidates need to fulfil the following conditions:

  • The compartment exam result must be declared before the confirmation of the admission date set by Symbiosis Law Schools (SLS).

  • The candidates must submit a valid Class 12 passing certificate and an updated marksheet.

  • Your admit card, compartment exam marksheet, overall Class 12 marksheet and transfer/ character certificate must be ready at the time of SLAT admission.

  • If the board delays your compartment results and you cannot provide a passing marksheet at the time of admission, Symbiosis Law Schools may not confirm your admission.

Alternate Routes for Students Unable to Clear the Compartment in Time

If a student is unable to clear his/ her compartment before the Symbiosis admission process, then some of the alternatives are provided here:

  • You can appear for other law entrance exams where the rules are more flexible for compartment candidates.

  • Take a year's gap and focus on your Class 12th exam and prepare for SLAT side-by-side.

  • The compartmental students can reappear for SLAT next year with proper certificates and complete results.

Compartmental candidates can appear for SLAT only if they clear their compartment exam before the deadline. While the entrance test itself does not restrict you, Symbiosis requires a valid final passing marksheet for confirmation of seat allocation. So, with all the necessary documents, you can secure admission through SLAT. And if not, you have alternative pathways to continue your law career journey.
