Marking Scheme

All of the questions in the GATE exam will carry 1 or 2 marks

GATE Negative Marking

Two types of MCQs:

  • MCQs: 1 mark for each accurate response; a deduction of 1/3 mark is applied for each incorrect response.
  • Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions do not carry a penalty for incorrect answers. No reduction for NAT & MSQ.
  • MCQs: Each correct response receives 2 marks, while each erroneous response results in a deduction of 3 marks.
