IGNOU B.Com Admissions 2022

Indira Gandhi National Open University offers four different types of open distance learning Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) course streams that are streamlined to provide candidates with the right knowledge, skills, and aptitude. All the B.Com courses offered by IGNOU are industry-oriented and help candidates to get employed in diverse sectors after the completion of the degree program. The four types of B.Com courses provided by IGNOU are - B.Com (General), B.Com (Corporate Affairs and Administration), B.Com (Accountancy and Finance), and B.Com (Financial and Cost Accounting). All these courses have a total duration of three years consisting of six semesters. The maximum completion duration for all of the above-mentioned B.Com courses is six years with a provision for re-admission after the completion of six years. The instruction medium for all of the above-mentioned B.Com courses (except B.Com: General) will be in English only. The instruction medium for B.Com (General) can be either in English or Hindi.

  • The syllabus includes 104 credits, 24 credits from IGNOU and the remaining 80 credits from the ICSI CS foundation and executive programs. When a student completes the Company Secretaryship Foundation and Executive Degree, automatic credit transfer is granted to all students in this B.Com program. This approach allows students to get dual degrees at the same time.

  • Bachelor of Commerce with a Major in Accountancy and Finance is planned and developed, particularly for Chartered Accountancy students in conjunction with The Board of Studies, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. 
  • The fundamental goal of this curriculum is to help students build skills and abilities in the areas of accounting and finance. Students can study this B.Com with a Major in Accountancy and Finance curriculum with the Chartered Accountancy First Stage given by the ICAI. 
  • This curriculum consists of 96 credits, 32 of which are from IGNOU and 64 of which are from the Chartered Accountancy course (First Stage). Once a student has passed Chartered Accountancy First Stage, automatic credit transfer for all Chartered Accountancy First Stage courses is granted in this B.Com (A & F) curriculum. This plan allows the student to get two degrees at the same time.

  • Bachelor of Commerce with a Major in Financial and Cost Accounting is planned and developed, particularly for ICAI students in conjunction with The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICAI). 
  • The primary goal of this curriculum is to help students build skills and abilities in finance and cost accounting. Students can study this B.Com with a Major in Financial and Cost Accounting curriculum with ICAI Foundation/Intermediate courses.

IGNOU B.Com Important Dates 2022

IGNOU has started re-registration for all the IGNOU students who are currently enrolled in various courses under IGNOU. The university issues the re-registration form so that any student who is currently enrolled in a course at the university can apply for admission to the following semester. IGNOU B.Com Application Process 2022

IGNOU's B.Com application process is entirely online. Candidates who wish to apply must go to the official website at www.ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in and fill out an online application form. The following is a step-by-step approach for applying to the IGNOU B.Com course:

  • Fill out the relevant registration details by clicking the “Click here for New Registration” button that appears in the applicant login section on www.ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in
  • Remember that your username must be between 8 and 16 characters long.
  • Your password must be alphanumeric and between 8 and 16 characters long.
  • After entering the required information, click the "SUBMIT" button.
  • Your username and other details will be issued to you immediately via email and SMS.
  • Keep your Username and Password handy for future logins.
  • If you have previously registered, i.e. you are an existing user, enter your registered username and password and click the "Login" button.
  • After the login, you will be required to accurately fill out the online application form, pay the required application fee online via debit card/ credit card/ net banking, and finally submit your application.

IGNOU B.Com Eligibility Criteria 2022

The eligibility criteria for all the four B.Com courses offered by IGNOU are as follows:

B.Com (General) Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have passed 10+2 or its equivalent exam from a recognized school board to be eligible for the B.Com (General) course offered by IGNOU.

B.Com (Corporate Affairs and Administration) Eligibility Criteria

  • Passed 10+2 or its equivalent exam from a recognized school board
  • Candidates must also be enrolled in the ICSI Company Secretary Foundation course OR have passed the CSEET exam/ CS Executive program.

B.Com (Accountancy and Finance) Eligibility Criteria

  • Passed a recognized school board's 10+2 or equivalent exam
  • Passed the ICAI foundation course or the Common PE-I/ Proficiency Test.
  • Enrollment in the ICAI Professional Competence Course/ PE-II/ IPCC Intermediate/ Chartered Accountancy First Stage or completion of the Professional Competence Course/ Intermediate or PE-II before.
  • Similarly, if conditions I and (ii) are met, all students who have passed the Chartered Accountancy test are eligible for admission.

B.Com (Financial and Cost Accounting) Eligibility Criteria

  • Passed the 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized school board
  • Already enrolled in the ICAI Foundation course
  • Students who have finished the ICAI Intermediate Course and passed all of the Foundation Course papers are also eligible. Condition (a) and condition (b) must be met 
  • Candidates who have completed CPT, a component of Chartered Accountancy, are ineligible for this B.Com degree (F&CA). This curriculum is only available to bona fide ICWAI students; candidates who enrolled through the credit transfer policy are not eligible for this course.

IGNOU B.Com Admission Process 2022

There is no entrance examination conducted for admission to all the B.Com courses offered by IGNOU, however, there are set eligibility criteria for each of the B.Com courses that candidates must fulfill in order to take admission to one of the B.Com courses offered by IGNOU as per their interest and long-term career objectives. If you meet the eligibility criteria of the B.Com course of your choice then you can start the online registration and application process, pay the prescribed registration fee online via net banking/credit card/debit card and take admission in the preferred B.Com course. A few of the mandatory scanned copies of the documents required for the admission in any of the B.Com courses offered by IGNOU are:

A student must complete the following courses to be eligible for the award of the degree, B.Com with Major in Accountancy and Finance B.Com (A&F). CPT/PE1/Foundation completion is required before applying for admission to B.Com (A & F). As a result, all B.Com (A & F) students receive immediate credit transfer for Part A courses. IGNOU will deliver all six courses in Part B, and the student must complete them in accordance with the IGNOU system. All six Part C courses will be offered by ICAI as part of the Chartered Accountancy First Stage, and students must complete them in accordance with the ICAI system for Chartered Accountancy.
