Eligibility Criteria for IOCL Recruitment through CLAT 2026
Aspirants who are interested to join IOCL as Law Officers should be Indian nationals and meet the following eligibility criteria to be considered eligible for the positions:
Education Qualification
Must hold a graduation degree in any discipline and a bachelor’s degree in law or any equivalent degree.
The minimum percentage of marks for General/ EWS/ OBC (NCL) candidates is 60% marks in both graduation and LL. B.
The minimum percentage of marks for SC /ST/ PwD candidates is 55% marks in aggregate in both graduation and LL. B.
Candidates who have qualified a 5-year integrated LL.B programme can also apply.
The programmes should be full-time programmes from a university recognised by the Bar Council of India.
Age Limit
The upper age limit for candidates belonging to the General/ EWS category is 33 years.
For candidates belonging to OBC (NCL) category, the upper age limit is 36 years.
For candidates belonging to SC/ ST category, the upper age limit is 38 years.
For candidates belonging to the PwD category, the upper age limit is 43 years.
For candidates who are ex-servicemen & commissioned officers (including ECOs/ SSCOs) subject to rendering minimum of 5 years’ military service and fulfilment of other conditions prescribed by the Government of India, the upper age limit is 43 years.
Experience Qualification
Minimum qualification experience required:
Must possess at least 5 years (Law Officers in Grade “B”) and 2 years (for Law Officers in Grade “A”) of professional experience as on 31st May of the current year. Six years of experience is desired.
The legal experience should be as a Law Officer of a PSU or Nationalized Bank or a Statutory Corporation; a Law Officer under the Government of India/State Government Department/ Institution or Undertaking; a Law Offer in a large private sector organization of repute as an employee of a Large Private Sector Organization or a Company of repute implies a Company.
Essential work experience areas include :
Handling Civil, Consumer and Criminal matters before various Judicial/QuasiJudicial Forums along with Arbitration and Conciliation matters,
Drafting & vetting various documents of law.
Handling matters related to Mergers, Acquisitions & Joint ventures as well as Regulatory matters of the industry of Oil & Gas/Petrochemical, Industrial/Labour legal matters, etc.
Note: In case any candidate is selected for further selection rounds, he/she will have to produce original documents as proofs of experience. These could be certificate evidencing award of degree/ experience certificate from the current/ past employer/ copy of registration certificate with the Bar Council.

Application Process for IOCL Recruitment through CLAT 2026
The process that one needs to follow to apply for the recruitment of legal professionals at IOCL through CLAT 2026 has been given below:
Step 1: Fill in and submit the application form for CLAT 2026 for the postgraduate programme (LL.M).
Step 2: After the candidate receives the CLAT 2026 Admit Card, he/she needs to apply to IndianOil by visiting its official website. The link to the same will be activated after the release of the admit card.
Step 3: Click on the “Online” application link on the official website of IOCL and read the instructions carefully before beginning the process.
Step 4: Fill in the correct CLAT 2026 Roll Number or Registration Number mentioned on the CLAT admit card. It is to be noted that the CLAT score will be retrieved by IOCL from the database provided by CLAT authorities. Hence, the CLAT 2026 Roll Number or Registration Number must be put correctly.
Step 5: Fill in all the other details as filled during the registration for CLAT 2026.
Step 6: Submit the application form by clicking on the “Submit” button after completing filling in the form. A unique Application ID will be generated upon successful registration. Keep it safe.
Step 7: Take a printout of the completed application form, affix your recent passport size photograph and sign in the space provided. Keep the same for future reference. The photograph should be the same as submitted for CLAT 2026 registration.

Selection Process for IOCL Recruitment through CLAT 2026
Selection of interested candidates for the positions of Law Officers in Grade “B” (Assistant Law Manager) and Law Officers in Grade “A” (Law Officer) will be carried out in the following manner:
Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their CLAT 2026 score.
If a candidate is shortlisted, then further rounds of selection will be conducted which shall include a Personal Interview and a Group Discussion (GD)/ Group Task(GT). Candidates have to qualify the GD/GT and PI successfully before being considered for merit listing.
The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of CLAT 2026 score and scores obtained in GD/GT and PI, all taken together.
IOCL Recruitment through CLAT 2026 Remuneration and Other Benefits
Remuneration and Other Benefits for Law Officers in Grade “B” (Assistant Law Manager)
The selected candidates will receive a starting basic salary of Rs 70,000 per month apart from Dearness Allowance (DA) and other allowances.
Other benefits or allowances include HRA/subsidized housing accommodation, contributory provident fund, employees pension scheme, conveyance advance/maintenance reimbursement, performance-related incentives (PRP), leave travel concession (LTC)/LFA, medical facilities, gratuity, leave encashment, contributory superannuation benefit fund scheme, group personal accident insurance scheme, etc. as per rules of IndianOil.
The gross valuation of remuneration to IOCL will be around Rs 21 lakh per annum inclusive of the employee's performance-related pay (PRP).
Remuneration and Other Benefits for Law Officers in Grade “A” (Law Officer)
The selected candidates will receive a starting basic salary of Rs 60,000 per month apart from Dearness Allowance (DA) and other allowances.
Other benefits or allowances include HRA/subsidized housing accommodation, contributory provident fund, employees pension scheme, conveyance advance/maintenance reimbursement, performance-related incentives (PRP), leave travel concession (LTC)/LFA, medical facilities, gratuity, leave encashment, contributory superannuation benefit fund scheme, group personal accident insurance scheme, etc. as per rules of IndianOil.
