List of documents required for IIT JAM 2024 counselling: The IIT JAM 2024 counselling process for the academic year 2024-2025 will begin on April 10, 2024. The JAM 2024 counselling process will be entirely online. Before the counselling session, IIT Madras will release the Joint Admissions Test (JAM) 2024 results on March 22, 2024. As part of the IIT JAM 2024 counselling process, candidates must fill out and submit the admission form once the IIT JAM 2024 result is out. The IIT JAM exam 2024 score is accepted by 21 IITs. These institutes include IITs in Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Bombay,  Kharagpur, Delhi, Kanpur, Indore, Varanasi,  Madras, Jodhpur, Tirupati, Bhlai, Mandi, Dhanbad,  Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Patna, Guwahati, Roorkee, Palakkad and Ropar. Candidates can choose and apply to any of the participating institutions based on the courses they offer. Before the counselling process begins, candidates must fill out the admission registration form with their course and institute preferences.

IIT JAM 2024 Counselling Process

IIT JAM counselling process is conducted after the announcement of the IIT JAM exam results. Qualified candidates will then be invited to the JAM counselling 2024. Candidates must fill out their preferred institutions and other relevant information when filling out the IIT JAM admission form. Candidates must upload their documents for verification purposes. The conducting IIT will make the IIT JAM admission lists, as well as the JAM opening and closing ranks, available online. An applicant is considered for admission based solely on the programme options listed on the Admission Form. In the normal case, admission is divided into four rounds. If seats remain vacant, additional rounds are conducted. Selected candidates must choose from the three following options:

• Accept and Freeze: This option allows candidates to accept the admission offered and pay the fees required to secure and confirm their admission.
• Accept with Upgrade: This option allows candidates to accept the offered seat, but if they believe they will receive a better offer in the following list, they can upgrade their offer accordingly.
• Reject and Quit: This option allows candidates to reject the offered seat which they received if it doesn't suit them and withdraw their names.

To check their status, candidates will need to log into the portal. Applicants who will be offered a seat in the First Round must log in to the Candidate Portal and select one of the three options listed above within the time frame specified. If seats remain vacant following the first round of admission, an admission list for the second round will be created. Candidates who will accept and upgrade in the previous round must log into the portal to check their current seat allocation. Applicants who will be offered a seat on the second list must log in to the Candidate Portal and select one of the three options discussed above on or before the deadline.

List of Documents Required for IIT JAM 2024 Counselling 

Following is the list of documents required for IIT JAM 2024 counselling that all candidates must have at the time of the IIT JAM 2024 counselling process:

• Class 10 Mark Sheet
• Class 12 Mark sheet
• IIT JAM Scorecard
• IIT JAM Admit Card
• Provisional seat allotment/ offer letter  
• IIT JAM Application Form
• Transfer Certificate from College
• Bachelor’s Degree Certificate
• Mark sheets of all semesters/ years of the qualifying degree 

This list of documents required for IIT JAM 2024 counselling is mandatory for JAM candidates of all categories.

Documents Required for General Category Candidates

Along with the documents specified above, the General category candidates must have any one of the following documents to indicate their nationality. 

• Aadhar Card 
• School Transfer Certificate (TC) showing nationality
• Birth Certificate
• Voter ID
• Nationality Certificate issued by an authorised government agency 

Note:  Any other documents like Ration Card, Driving License, College/ Institute/ School ID, Bank Passbook, PAN Card, and Marksheets are NOT considered as Nationality Certificates

Documents Required for Reserved Category Candidates

Reserved category candidates must have either of the following documents apart from the above-stated list of required documents for IIT JAM counselling. 

• Category Certificate for OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, and ST candidates issued by the competent authorities
• PwDCertificate

Note: Nationality Certificate is NOT required for candidates submitting the category certificate. OBC-NCL/EWS/SC/ST Category Certificate serves as a Nationality Certificate too. 

IIT JAM 2024 Counselling- Seat Booking Fee

Candidates who wish to confirm the seats assigned to them must pay the JAM seat booking fees via one of the available payment methods, which include credit cards, debit cards, UPI and net banking. This seat booking fee ensures that seats are reserved at the institution, making the application process easier for candidates. IIT JAM 2024 Counselling Opening and Closing Ranks

The Indian Institute of Technology will conduct IIT JAM opening and closing ranks online. The JAM opening and closing rankings will be published in 4 rounds. To download the JAM 2024 opening and closing ranks, candidates must visit the conducting IIT's official website. The IIT JAM 2024 opening and closing ranks help candidates better understand their position in the IIT JAM admissions process.
