IIT JAM 2021 Counselling Process will be organised by IIT Kanpur in the month of April to June 2021 in online mode. The counselling of IIT JAM 2021 will be organized only for those candidates who will complete the admission form after the IIT JAM result has been declared. On the basis of the IIT JAM 2021 merit lists and scores, candidates will be offered admission in IITs, NITs, and CFTIs.
After the declaration of IIT JAM 2021 result, candidates will have to fill the admission form for the IIT JAM 2020 counselling procedures. Candidates need to submit all the requisite document during the IIT JAM Counselling 2021. After submission of the documents, IIT, Kanpur will release the first admission List in the month of June 2021.
The counselling of IIT JAM is conducted to allot seats to the candidates in various courses. A candidate can apply to one or more programmes that are covered under the test papers qualified by the candidate, subject to fulfilment of the Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQ) and the Eligibility Criteria of the Admitting Institutes.
Note: The organising authority releases the second or third admission list if the seats remain vacant.

Step – 1: Filling of Admission Application Form
Candidates applying for admission in various courses first have to fill an application form to participate in IIT JAM counselling. Candidates have to fill the form with accurate details and verify the details before submitting the application form. For admission application form filling, candidates will have to visit the official website of IIT JAM, click on the appropriate link and enter the login credentials, irrespective of the IISc and IITs where the admission is sought, to fill the admission form. After that, candidates will have to provide the requisite details such as choice of programmes in order of preference, academic qualification, aggregate/CGPA, category, etc. After filling the programme preference and proceeding to payment. The application fee for the JAM 2020 admission form has to be paid online only through using Credit Card/ Debit Card/Net Banking. The application fee will be non-refundable. After making the payment and upload the scanned image on the admission website in the prescribed format.
Only one admission form can be filled, therefore candidates must be careful while they fill the admission form.
Candidates belonging to the OBC-NCL category have to submit a valid certificate along with the admission form after the declaration of IIT JAM 2021 Result.
If found incomplete the admission form of JAM 2021 will not be considered.
Step – 2: Accept or Reject Choices
In this step, candidates have to log in to the official website and make choices from any of the options appearing on the screen. They can opt “Accept and Upgrade”, “Accept and Freeze” or “Reject and Quit” option.
After choosing the option and booking the seat, candidates have to pay “Seat Booking Fee” through online payment modes using Credit Card/ Debit Card/Net Banking.
If a candidate chooses to withdraw, then an amount of INR1000/- will be deducted from their Seat Booking Fee and the final amount will be refunded.
Step – 4: Reporting to the Allotted Centre
After seat allotment, candidates have to report at the allotted IITs, NITs, and CFTIs along with all the documents required to be submitted at the time of admission.
Candidates who fail to accept the admission offer are not considered for the further admission process.
IIT JAM 2020 Third and final admission list will be prepared if seats still remain vacant.
Qualified candidates who are not allotted a seat in the 1st and 2nd admission round will remain on the waiting list.
Anyone who does not accept the acceptance offer from the institute will be removed from the admission process.
The verification of Eligibility Requirements (ERs) and Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) is the mandatory steps to move for the admission.
The admission will be offered only those candidates who fulfill all eligibility criteria of IIT JAM 2021.
Apart from this, the admission will depend on the availability of seats in the admitting institutions.
Without all the documents mentioned below, no candidate will be allowed to participate in IIT JAM 2021 Counselling.
The admission in IISc Banglore, IISER Bhopal, IISER Pune, and CCMN Institutes will not be done through common JAM admission process. The candidate must apply for these institutes directly to their undergraduate programmes.
In order to get admission into IITs, candidates who have been allotted seats will have to freeze their seats.
Candidates will be required to pay the IIT JAM counselling fees in online mode via Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking.
IIT Kanpur will provide a secured gateway for the IIT JAM 2021 counselling by which the candidates can remit the fee for their admission.

The IIT JAM seat booking fee for SC category is Rs. 5,000.
The candidates who wish to withdraw from IIT JAM counselling process will get the refund of seat booking fee. However, Rs. 1,000 shall be deducted.
The IIT JAM seat booking fee for General Category is Rs. 10,000.
The candidates will be given time to report to the allocated institutes.
