Time Management Tricks for CLAT 2026 Exam

What separates CLAT from other entrance exams conducted at the national and state level is effective time management. For the CLAT exam with speed and accuracy you need to manage time well to answer every question. Many academicians along with candidates who have cleared CLAT with a good rank have made this point of managing time effectively a skill to master before the actual exam. In order to develop this skill you must have a thorough understanding of the exam pattern i.e. how many questions are asked from each section along with practicing questions on a daily basis, solving mock papers, attempting essay questions first etc. For example, logical reasoning and GK has a very high weightage in the exam. Therefore we advice you to practice questions on logical reasoning more during your preparation phase. Time Management for CLAT

You can follow the tips for the CLAT exam.

  • Understand the Exam Pattern - You need to have good command over the exam pattern. For example, in the CLAT exam logical reasoning and GK has a very high weightage, therefore you should make a point to solve these questions correctly in the exam. In order to solve questions in the actual exam you need to practice them on a regular basis during the preparation phase
  • Follow Easy First Approach - Before attempting the questions in the CLAT exam, first scan the question paper and select those which are easy to attempt. Go for the easy ones first and solve them correctly. You will save time in the exam by following this approach
  • Set Sectional Time - Dedicate time for each section in the exam. For example, for the english section spend 20 to 25 minutes, for logical reasoning set 30 minutes, for GK set 25 minutes. During your preparatory phase set time for each section while solving questions.
  • Do not hesitate to leave questions which are challenging to solve. Dedicate maximum 1 minute to decide whether you will be able to answer the question or not. Wasting time to take decision on attempting a question will lead to no time left for solving doable questions.
  • Develop Question Solving Technique - Before solving questions focus on keywords like “except”, “if” to decide what is the logic. You can use the elimination method to rule out 1 or 2 options, therefore narrowing down your options.
