IIM Eligibility Cut Off vs IIM Call Cut Off - What's the Difference

IIM Eligibility Cut Off vs IIM Call Cut Off: The Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) have a long and elaborate admission process for their flagship Post Graduate Programmes (PGP). Every candidate seeking admission to prestigious institutes must first go through the selection process of the institutes. He/she must have an understanding of every step in the process.

Admissions to the IIMs are based on the Common Admission Test (CAT). CAT 2022 was conducted on November 27, 2022. CAT scores are used by IIMs to shortlist candidates for the second round of admissions i.e. the WAT / PI stage. CAT scores are also given weightage in the final selection criteria of IIMs. It is important to understand how IIMs use CAT scores in their admission process.

IIM Admissions 2023 on CAT Percentile

Every IIM aspirant must be aware of the fact that each IIM announces their CAT cut off percentile score. In the 2023 admission-criteria of IIM Ahmedabad, the institute declared that it did not increase the CAT cut off from 80 percentile. However, every CAT aspirant knows that it is just not possible to receive a call from IIM Ahmedabad with an 80 percentile score in CAT, even though a candidate has cleared the eligibility criteria.

This is because the actual cutoff for MBA admissions at IIM Ahmedabad is much higher than that. In fact, a 99+ percentile score is recommended for anybody aspiring for admission at the institute. There is a huge difference between the CAT eligibility cut off released by IIMs and the actual cutoffs based on which candidates are invited for admission. In this article, we take a look at this difference and what causes this huge gap.

Further, the eligibility cut off is different for each category of candidates. As an example, here is a table providing the detailed eligibility cut off of IIM Lucknow for PGP 2023 admissions.

      MAH MBA CET Normalisation Process
      March 27, 2023 0:53 PM

MAH MBA CET 2023 Normalization Process

MAH MBA CET Normalization Process 2023: The MAH MBA CET exam is conducted across multiple sessions to accommodate every candidate who registered for the exam. However, the question paper for different sessions of MAH MBA CET does not remain the same. Since the different question papers have different levels of difficulty, normalization in MAH MBA CET is used to make sure that candidates are evaluated using the same standards and scale. This MAH CET 2023 normalization process is similar to other entrance exams conducted in multiple sessions.

MAH MBA CET 2023 was conducted on March 25 and 26, 2023 in multiple shifts. Candidates who appeared for the exam must know everything about the normalization process in order to understand how they are assessed and how their final scores are calculated. In this article, we have mentioned all the important details candidates need to know about the MAH MBA CET normalization process 2023.

Also Read: MAH MBA CET Score vs Percentile 2023

MAH MBA CET Normalization Process 2023 - Definition

The MAH MBA CET normalization process is a procedure that makes sure that the candidates from one particular session are not at an advantage or disadvantage as compared to the test takers from another session due to the varying levels of difficulty in the respective shifts of MAH MBA CET. When the MAH MBA CET results are prepared, the scores of every candidate are normalized and then posted as the final score. This normalization process is not dissimilar to the ones used in other popular MBA entrance exams like CAT, CMAT, NMAT, etc.

MAH MBA CET Normalization Process 2023 - Important Elements

The MAH MBA CET normalization process, although easy to understand, is a sophisticated practice used by the exam authorities for maintaining equality among the candidates across all the sessions of the exam. There are several important components of this normalization method that candidates should be aware of in order to properly understand the entire process. The most important elements of the MAH MBA CET Normalization Process are as follows:

      • MAH MBA CET Marking Scheme
      • MAH MBA CET Raw Score
      • MAH MBA CET Percentile Score

Each component mentioned above has been explained in detail below.

MAH MBA CET Marking Scheme 2023

One of the most important things that candidates should understand about the MAH MBA CET exam is the marking scheme. Without knowing the MAH MBA CET marking scheme properly, candidates will not be able to understand how their performance on the exam is evaluated. The MAH MBA CET marking scheme is quite straightforward and simple to understand. The major highlights of the MAH MBA CET marking scheme are mentioned below:

      • Candidates are awarded one mark for each correct answer on the MAH MBA CET question paper.
      • For incorrect answers, there is no penalty levied on candidates.
      • There is also no negative marking for unattended questions by candidates on MAH MBA CET.

      MAH MBA CET Raw Score

The MAH MBA CET raw score is the overall score obtained by candidates on the question paper, derived by calculating the individual scores of each section on the MAH MBA CET exam using the marking scheme and then adding the total score of all four sections. Calculating the raw scores of candidates is the first step towards arriving at the MAH MBA CET final results. However, candidates must make a note of the fact that the MAH MBA CET raw scores are not the scores that appear on their scorecard/result, and their raw scores are also irrelevant during the time of admission. It is the candidate’s scaled scores or percentile scores on the MAH MBA CET exam that are used for MBA admissions.

      MAH MBA CET Percentile Score

The MAH MBA CET percentile score is a parameter that is used to determine a candidate’s performance on the exam relative to all the other test takers of MAH MBA CET. The percentile score is an accurate measure of how well a candidate has performed in the exam as compared to other candidates, which makes it easier for colleges and universities to select prospective students for MBA admission. This percentile score is calculated by converting the raw scores of candidates to a scaled score ranging from 100 to 0. The normalized scores of candidates in the exam are also used to prepare the MAH MBA CET final merit list.

      P = N – (R/N) x 100

Percentile = Total Number of Candidates Appeared in CMAT – Candidate’s Rank divided by N multiplied by 100.
