IIM Bodh Gaya Selection Criteria

The Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya (IIM BG) has released the admission policy for the 2021-23 batch of its Master of Business Administration (MBA) course on its official website. Candidates applying for admission through their CAT 2020 scores must follow the selection criteria specified by the institute for admission to its current PGP batch. The IIM Bodh Gaya Admission Process will begin soon now that the CAT 2020 Results have been declared. IIM BG MBA Selection Criteria 2021 specifies the criteria based on which candidates are shortlisted for the interview round (Personal Appearance) of the institute. It also explains how the Merit List of IIM Bodh Gaya is created and details the current Reservation Policy followed by the institute.

IIM Bodh Gaya MBA Admission Criteria 2021

IIM Bodh Gaya is one of the newly-constructed Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) that is offering admission to the PGP (MBA) 2021-23 batch. The MBA seat intake of IIM BG is most likely to be around 150 this year. Out of these, 30 are supernumerary seats reserved for girl candidates. IIM BG offers merit-based admissions to its course but advantage is provided to reserved category and girl candidates in admissions. There are three stages of selection in the MBA selection process of IIM Bodh Gaya. These are shortlisting based on CAT score, PA (Personal Appearance) round and final merit calculation. The selection criteria is defined in detail in the PGP (MBA) Admission Policy 2021 of IIM BG, which has been explained below.

Stage 1 - IIM Bodh Gaya PA Shortlisting Criteria 2021

Candidates who apply for admission in IIM Bodh Gaya are first shortlisted for the WAT & PI process based on their CAT scores. In order to get a call for interview at IIM Bodh Gaya, candidates are required to satisfy the minimum CAT Cut Off criteria specified by the institute.

Applicants who have scored the cut-off marks mentioned above will be eligible for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds conducted by IIM Bodh Gaya. However, the candidates that are called by the institute for the next round may have a much higher CAT percentile than the cut-off set by the institute. IIM Bodh Gaya Number of Shortlisted Candidates 2021

The number of candidates shortlisted for the WAT and PI rounds is decided by the Admission Committee of IIM Bodh Gaya. A category-wise list of shortlisted candidates is prepared by the committee. If the number of candidates shortlisted as per the criteria set by the institute is found to be more or less than required, the institute adjusts the criteria accordingly to reach the desired number.

Stage 2 - IIM Bodh Gaya Personal Appearance (PA) Process 2021

All of the 9 new IIMs conduct a common personal appearance process for admission. This is called the Common Admission Process (CAP) 2021. Given below is the list of IIMs that are participating in CAP 2021.

IIM Raipur will be coordinating the common admission process this year. Students who have applied for admission any of these 9 IIMs will have to go through CAP 2021. The WAT & PI rounds for admission in IIM Bodh Gaya (as well as other participating colleges) will be conducted as a part of this common process. Once the process has been conducted, the coordinating institute - IIM Raipur will compile the scores of all of the students and send them to the respective institutes in which they have applied. IIM Bodh Gaya has specified that it may also conduct a Supplementary Admission Process (SAP 2021) after the common process has been conducted. Students will have to appear for CAP 2021 and SAP 2021 as a part of the admission process. The score of both of these processes are considered when preparing the merit list.

IIM Bodh Gaya Detailed Merit List Criteria 2021

Given below are the details of how the merit list is prepared for IIM Bodh Gaya for final admission to its PGP (MBA) course.

1. CAT 2020 Score (40% Weightage)

The CAT 2020 score of a candidate is considered in the final merit list of IIM BG.

2. Personal Appearance - WAT & PI (30% Weightage)

Both WAT and PI scores of a candidate are considered in the creation of the final merit list. However, PI holds a higher weightage in the same. The weightage of both is as follows.

3. Profile (30% Weightage)

Weightage of Academic Profile at IIM Bodh Gaya 2021

In the academic profile section, IIM Bodh Gaya takes a look at your performance in Class 12th, Class 10th and Graduation and scores you accordingly. Only students who have more than 60% marks are scored in this section.

If 'x'% are the marks of a candidate, the following formula is used to calculate the academic profile score of a candidate in IIM Bodh Gaya admissions.

Academic Profile Score = (x - 60) / 10
  • For example, for a candidate who has scored 70%, the academic profile score would be (70-60)/10 = 1.
  • The academic profile score varies from 0 to 4 for each class.

  • All candidates with less than 60% marks get a 0 score.

  • The academic profile scores are then added to find out the weightage.

Weightage of Diversity at IIM Bodh Gaya 2021

6% weightage is reserved as the diversity factor in IIM Bodh Gaya MBA Admissions 2021. These are further divided into diversity based on Gender and Diversity based on academic disciplines. The distribution is as follows.

IIM Bodh Gaya Final Admission 2021

IIM Bodh Gaya declares the final Merit List of candidates invited to take admission in the institute. Following are the steps to finalize admission and accept the offer at IIM Bodh Gaya.

  • Register for the expression of interest.
  • IIM Bodh Gaya sends an offer of admission based on merit to registered candidates.
  • Submit the Offer Acceptance.
  • Submit the Offer Acceptance amount of Rs. 50,000. This is adjusted in the course fee.
  • If a candidate wishes to withdraw after submitting their acceptance, they have the following options:
    • Withdrawing Before Deadline: Offer Acceptance Amount is refunded after deducting Rs. 1,000.
    • Withdrawing After Deadline: No refund will be provided.
    • Withdrawing After Course Registration: No refund of Offer Acceptance Amount or Course Fee is provided.

IIM Bodh Gaya will send the offer letters and accept candidates as per the availability of vacant seats in the course. Only the candidates who have registered for expression of interest will be considered for admission. Any seats lying vacant after exhaustion of the merit list will be transferred to candidates on the Wait List as per merit basis.
