IIM Shortlist 2025 (OUT): Check Results, Personal Interview, Dates, Cutoff, Seats, Selection Process

The IIM Shortlist 2025 is being announced by different Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for MBA/PGP admissions for the 2025-27 batch. If you want to make it to IIM, it is expected that the final cut-off list may come out sometime in May 2025. The highest percentile cutoff for top-level IIMs stands at 94, whereas the minimum range goes up to around 80. The smaller or baby IIMs have a range of cut-offs between 82 and 94. IIM Shortlist 2025 Latest Update

• IIM Lucknow released its shortlist for PI on January 6, 2025.
• IIM Calcutta announced the PI shortlist for MBA program on January 7, 2025.
• The shortlist for MBA admissions for the 2025-27 batch from the final IIM is likely to be declared in May 2025.
• The PI rounds are scheduled for February to March 2025. This allows candidates enough time to perform at their best.

Key Factors for IIM Shortlisting Criteria 2025

The IIM shortlist criteria 2025 put more of an emphasis on student quality, which isn't only determined by CAT exam results. As a result, "student profile" is crucial and is seen as crucial for increasing diversity in IIM Classrooms. As a result, the IIM Shortlist 2025 criteria primarily focus on the following 3 Parameters:

• Each IIM shortlist 2025 criteria outlines the minimum required percentile score for both the overall and each section of the CAT exam, which ranges from 85 to 95 percentile.

• Excellent academic standing up to graduation and individuals with backgrounds other than engineering are given preference in the IIMs shortlist criterion. To encourage gender diversity in IIM classrooms, female applicants are given preference as well.

• A candidate is given a good weightage of between 5% and 10% in the IIM shortlisting criteria if they have between 2 and 3 years of experience working in an executive or supervisory cadre. This makes them eligible for the GD/PI/WAT rounds of IIM admissions.

Eligibility Criteria

Admission to the IIMs is open to those who meet the requirements to take the CAT. They must, however, fulfil a few more prerequisites to be selected. Check out the following IIM qualifying requirements:

• The fundamental requirements for admission to IIMs are graduation with at least 50% of total marks or an equivalent CGPA (45% for SC, ST, and PWD/DA categories).

• Applicants who are waiting for their results or who are in their last year of a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualifying exam may also apply.

• To be considered for an IIM interview, candidates must fulfil the requirements for the IIM shortlist/qualifying cutoff.

• For applicants to be eligible for an interview call and to take part in WAT/GD-PI, they have to meet the minimum IIM call cut-off.

CAT Composite Score

The total score (out of 100) that a candidate receives during the final selection process is referred to as the composite score, and it is determined by taking into account the CAT scores, 10th board scores, 12th board scores, Bachelor's degree scores, weighted work experience, and performance in the WAT and PI rounds.

IIM Admission Process 2025

To get admission to IIMs, candidates have to go through several stages which have been elaborated below.

Stage 1: Shortlisting Based on CAT Score

After the CAT result is announced, candidates need to apply for the WAT/GD-PI round at each IIM by following the official notification on its website. Candidates who meet the shortlist cut-off must log in with their CAT IDs to submit their name and CAT score.

Stage 2: Appearing for WAT/GD-PI

From February to April, a writing ability test, group discussion, and personal interview rounds are conducted at designated cities for shortlisted candidates who applied for WAT/GD-PI. These candidates were shortlisted based on their CAT scores and academic record. Selected candidates are sent interview letters to participate in the WAT-GD-PI round.

Stage 3: Calculation of Composite Score and Final Selection

Lastly, a composite score is calculated for each candidate based on eight different parameters. These parameters and their definitions are listed below.

Academic Diversity	To provide equal representation to students from different streams, non-engineering candidates are given extra points. Each campus provides varying points for academic diversity.
Gender Diversity	To ensure that both genders are equally represented, IIMs award additional points to female and transgender applicants during their selection process. The number of points awarded for gender diversity may vary depending on the campus.
Work Experience	Candidates with prior work experience can earn extra points in the range of 1 to 5. The number of points awarded depends on the campus, with each campus having its specific range.

IIM CAP 2025

To facilitate admissions to IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Trichy, IIM Udaipur, IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Sambalpur, and IIM Sirmaur in 2025, IIM Udaipur is coordinating the Common Admission Process (CAP) 2025. A common shortlist for these 9 IIMs that are CAP participants was made public in January 2025. The CAP procedure runs from the middle of February to the middle of March. There will be a shared PI- WAT round for 9 IIMs' MBA admission in 2025.

Important Points to Remember About IIM CAP 2025

• Out of the four baby IIMs that are taking part in CAP 2025—IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Sambalpur, and IIM Sirmaur—only two, IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu, have released their shortlisting criteria for both CAP and their own selection round.

• After CAP 2025 is complete, lower cut-offs are declared for their own selection process and higher cut-offs are announced for the CAP round. The candidates who do not receive a call for CAP 2025 will receive a separate message from these IIMs based on their respective shortlist criteria stated in their admission policy, according to these IIMs' clarification.

• The shortlists are being released individually by IIM Shillong, IIM Rohtak, IIM Amritsar, IIM Nagpur, and IIM Visakhapatnam because they are not taking part in the IIM Common Admission Process (CAP) 2025. IIM Visakhapatnam, IIM Nagpur, and IIM Shillong will all reveal their Phase-1 shortlists as well as their shortlists for the final selection phase.

• Before considering a candidate's application for final admission, all 7 Baby IIMs—whether they are taking part in CAP 2025 or holding autonomous PI rounds—will require candidates to confirm and submit their application by the deadline. The publishing dates for all of the most recent IIM results 2025 are in March and April.

• IIM Rohtak, which in the past took part in the CAP round, will not be taking part in the new IIM CAP 2025 and will instead be running its own online admissions procedure. Candidates are being requested to reapply and register for admission. The list of applicants who have submitted applications for admission to IIM Amritsar will shortly be available. The shortlist will be made public by IIM Amritsar soon.

IIM Admission 2025-27 Waitlist Movement

The number of seats that advance from the backlog for candidates to get admission offers is referred to as the IIM admission waitlist. IIMs reserve one batch or slot for students on the waiting list in addition to shortlisting candidates and releasing the final admission list.

• Any applicant who forfeits their seat will allow a student on the waiting list to be admitted.
• The IIM Admission Waitlist allows management aspirants an opportunity to seek admission to some of the top IIMs like IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta.
• IIM Lucknow and IIM Calcutta are known to have a high waitlist turnover rate due to chosen candidates' preference for IIMB or IIMA over these two institutions.
