IIM Eligibility Cut Off vs IIM Call Cut Off - What's the Difference

IIM Eligibility Cut Off vs IIM Call Cut Off: The Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) have a long and elaborate admission process for their flagship Post Graduate Programmes (PGP). Every candidate seeking admission to prestigious institutes must first go through the selection process of the institutes. He/she must have an understanding of every step in the process.

Admissions to the IIMs are based on the Common Admission Test (CAT). CAT 2022 was conducted on November 27, 2022. CAT scores are used by IIMs to shortlist candidates for the second round of admissions i.e. the WAT / PI stage. CAT scores are also given weightage in the final selection criteria of IIMs. It is important to understand how IIMs use CAT scores in their admission process.

IIM Admissions 2023 on CAT Percentile

Every IIM aspirant must be aware of the fact that each IIM announces their CAT cut off percentile score. In the 2023 admission-criteria of IIM Ahmedabad, the institute declared that it did not increase the CAT cut off from 80 percentile. However, every CAT aspirant knows that it is just not possible to receive a call from IIM Ahmedabad with an 80 percentile score in CAT, even though a candidate has cleared the eligibility criteria.

This is because the actual cutoff for MBA admissions at IIM Ahmedabad is much higher than that. In fact, a 99+ percentile score is recommended for anybody aspiring for admission at the institute. There is a huge difference between the CAT eligibility cut off released by IIMs and the actual cutoffs based on which candidates are invited for admission. In this article, we take a look at this difference and what causes this huge gap.

IIMs release the cutoffs as percentile scores required by a candidate in each section as well as the overall percentile required to be eligible for admission. Further, the eligibility cut off is different for each category of candidates. As an example, here is a table providing the detailed eligibility cut off of IIM Lucknow for PGP 2023 admissions.

There is no official call cut off of the IIMs. Each institute releases their individual merit list and cut off of candidates who are called for the final rounds of admi

Best ROI MBA Colleges in India 2022: Fees, Average Salary, Highest Salary

Master of Business Administration (MBA) is not only one of the most popular courses in India but it also ranks high among the most expensive courses in the country. Top management colleges in India charge a fortune for their flagship business programs, whether it is a PGP or Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). However, why is it that the high program fee for MBA has no effect on the popularity of the course? It is because MBA also happens to be one of the best-paying degrees in India.

The exact course fee for a PGDM/MBA course from a reputed college in the country varies on the MBA specialization and other details associated with the course. However, on average, the total fees for a PGDM/MBA course range from Rs. 10 - 25 lakhs. It is quite obvious that any student who would be willing to invest such a large amount in their education would expect good returns from the course and MBA is a course that delivers on that promise. If you have completed your management education from a good college such as IIM, you are sure to grab an above-average salary package in the Indian context. Here, an important thing to note is the ROI or Return Over Investment of your course.

    • A college with low course fees but high salary packages will have a high ROI.

    • A college with high course fees but the same salary package as the previous college will have a lower ROI than the previous college.

As an MBA is an expensive course, many students are on the lookout for MBA scholarships in India and apply for education loans in India to pay for their courses. For such a student, it is especially important to select an MBA college with a good ROI to ensure that he/ she can pay his student loans on time and get the best salary from their degree.

A majority of CAT test takers score 80-90 percentile and become eligible to get admission in 100s of MBA colleges accepting CAT scores in this range. However, there are several other parameters for getting MBA admission other than the CAT percentile. In this article, we have mentioned all the information candidates would need to understand what is a good percentile score in CAT 2022.

CAT 2022 was conducted on November 27, 2022, and the result was announced on the official website by IIM Bangalore on December 21, 2022. CAT 2022 test-takers can check out the CAT 2022 score vs percentile analysis, CAT cutoff 2022 for IIMs, and other related information in the links below.

What is a Good CAT Percentile/Score?

Coming to the star of the show, a good score in CAT is actually an incomplete question. The actual question should be 'What is a good score in CAT for XYZ college?' Without mentioning what college you want to get admitted to, there is no value in any CAT score. Hence, a good score in CAT can be any score that lands you into your desired college.

This illustrates one very important point that every CAT aspirant should have in mind, i.e. setting a target is vital to CAT preparation, and you should always base your preparation strategy on that information.

Since each B-school has a distinct cutoff for shortlisting applicants for selection rounds, the definition of a good CAT score will vary from institute to institute. Consider IIMs as an example; in contrast to other B-schools like IIFT, IITs, FMS Delhi, and SPJIMR, which accept CAT scores below 95 percentile, IIMs require a minimum 95 percentile for admission. In contrast to IIMs, tier-3 B-schools might accept applicants with slightly lower-than-average CAT scores.

What is a Good CAT Score for Admission into IIMs?

In order to answer this question, we need to see the number of seats in IIMs, the number of candidates appearing for CAT as well as the interest of CAT aspirants in a particular IIM. Roughly speaking, the total number of seats in IIMs is around 5,000 and the total number of aspirants appearing for CAT every year is around 2,00,000 (2 lakhs). Hence, you have to be in the top 5000 candidates to be eligible for admission. And the top 5,000 candidates come in the 97.50+ percentile bracket. However, practically speaking, you can get into an IIM such as IIM JammuIIM Amritsar, etc. even with a 90 percentile CAT score.

When it comes to old private colleges vs new IIMs, many of the candidates prefer to take admission into a prestigious institute such as

XAT Score vs Percentile Analysis 2023

Understanding XAT Score vs Percentile 2023 analysis is crucial for XAT test takers to estimate their chances of getting admission into XAT participating colleges. The XAT score is the total marks a candidate obtains in the exam on the basis of the marking scheme. While the XAT percentile represents the rank of a student in the exam, relative to the rest of the students who appeared in the same time frame, along with a few other parameters.

To obtain a 99+ percentile in XAT, a candidate must have a 40+ XAT score. Similarly, for the 95 percentile, he must score 35+, for the 90 percentile – 25+ marks, and for the 85 percentile, the XAT score should be 24+. With the help of XAT marks vs percentile analysis, you can get an idea about your chances of getting calls from XAT participating colleges for further selection rounds like the Group Excercise, Personal Interaction, and Written Ability Test. In this article, we have mentioned all details related to XAT 2023 score vs percentile analysis.

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) is one of the most popular MBA entrance exams in India through which students can get admission into over 150 leading MBA colleges, besides XLRI & SP Jain Mumbai. Almost all popular B-Schools in India accept XAT scores for MBA admissions. XAT 2023 was conducted on January 8, 2023, in 79 test cities across India. XAT 2023 results have been announced on January 28, 2023. Candidates can check the links below to find the XAT result 2023 direct link and XAT 2023 toppers list:

Overview of XAT Score Vs Percentile Analysis 2023

The XAT scorecard is essential for understanding the XAT score vs percentile analysis. After analyzing the XAT scorecard, we estimate that a score of 34 in XAT 2023 can fetch you 95 percentile, and 32 marks can get you 93 percentile. A score of 30 will comfortably place you in the 90+ percentile bracket. XAT 2023 Scorecard will display only the percentage and percentile of XAT. The XAT Score will not be included here. To access this, candidates need to log in to the official website and download the XAT Scorecard.

MBA experts predict that the XLRI XAT 2023 cut off will most probably be around the 96 percentile for XLRI's flagship PGDM in Business Management. XAT is considered to be one of the most difficult papers among all MBA entrance exams because of its scoring pattern. The XAT score vs percentile 2023 analysis will help aspirants understand where they stand in terms of competition.

XAT percentile denotes the percentage of students who have scored less than you have scored in the exam. This is important to keep in mind when going over the XAT marks vs percentile analysis. Imagine there are 100 students in the class, and a student scored the highest mark in the XAT exam than any other student. It means that the score of that particular student is better than 99 students. Therefore, the percentile scored by a student is 99. XAT score denotes the total marks obtained by you in the entrance exam.

    XAT 2023 Marking Scheme

XAT is regarded as the most difficult entrance exam for MBA admission along with CAT, essentially because of its marking scheme. XAT 2023 has a negative marking as well. The XAT marking scheme is an important element of the XAT score vs percentile 2023 analysis. Check the detailed XAT 2023 Marking Scheme below.

CAT Score vs Percentile 2022: How to Calculate Them?

CAT Score vs Percentile 2022 is the analysis of the score required by a CAT test-taker to obtain a certain percentile for MBA admission at IIMs and other B-Schools in India. While the CAT score is the total marks a candidate attains in the exam as per the marking scheme, the CAT percentile denotes his performance with respect to the total number of candidates who qualify for the exam.

For example, if a student's CAT percentile is 95, then it means that his CAT score is greater than 95% of the candidates who took CAT 2022. While the CAT score and the CAT percentile are two different things, they have equal importance. Both of them directly influence a candidate’s chance of getting admission into the Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) and other Top B-Schools in India. The higher the CAT percentile, the better the chances for MBA admission.
