The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) releases CLAT exam day guidelines and instructions every year. All candidates appearing for the exam have to follow the instructions given by the conducting body on the exam day.
The notice released also underlines the importance of social distancing and assures that CLAT 2023 will be conducted safely if each individual adheres to the precautionary measures.
CLAT 2023 will be conducted on December 18, 2022. The inputs and guidance from prominent health experts have been taken to validate the processes and procedures that need to be followed at various stages of the exam.
Guidelines for CLAT 2023 are divided into two segments. The first segment talks about the code of conduct while the other one highlights COVID-specific instructions.
CLAT 2023 Exam Day Guidelines
Enlisted below is the basic code of conduct that needs to be followed.
Candidates must bring the admit card and a valid ID proof such as Aadhar, Voter ID, Passport etc.
Each and every candidate needs to participate in the thermal screening process.
Aspirants need not form groups or crowd at places. Maintaining social distance is a must.
Nothing except the prescribed items are allowed within the exam centre. The list of the permitted items is given below.
Study material, paper or calculators are prohibited inside the examination centre.
The exam will be conducted in the offline mode. Students are expected to be familiar with the exam guidelines by practising through CLAT 2023 Mock Test.
Candidates must reach the exam centre at least 1 hour before the exam starts. Entry would not be granted to those who reach the venue 15 minutes after the commencement of the exam.
Nobody will be allowed to leave the exam centre before the exam is over.
Verify the seating arrangement soon after entering the exam venue to avoid any hassle.
Candidates will not be allowed to seek clarifications from anybody while the test is ongoing.
The CLAT 2023 exam centre allotted to the candidates is final and any request for change in the exam centre will not be entertained now.
Candidates must sign on the CLAT admit card 2023 in the presence of the invigilator. The signature must match the one uploaded in the CLAT application form.
CLAT 2023 COVID Specific Guidelines
Go through the COVID specific instructions issued by the Consortium of National Law Universities that need to be followed sincerely.
If a candidate has a temperature of more than 99.14, he/she would be taken to the isolation lab to take the test.
In case a candidate arrives with the scribe at the exam venue, he/she and the scribe must carry an N95 mask.
The items that an applicant can carry to the venue are Gloves, Mask, Personal Hand Sanitizer (50 ml), a simple Blue/Black pen and exam-related documents that include an admit card, valid id card, Disability Certificate for PWD candidates and Self-Health Declaration.
Candidates with mobile phones need to switch them off and submit them at the designated location. They can collect their phones after the exam ends. However, their safety is not guaranteed by the exam centre.
CLAT 2023 Guidelines for PwD Category Candidates
PwD candidates who are appearing for CLAT 2023 will have to arrange their own Reader/ Lab Assistant/ Scribe and inform the Regional Coordinator. The Reader/ Scribe/ Lab Assistant's qualifications should be one level below the qualification of the test-taking candidates. Candidates will also need to carry their PwD certificates along with the CLAT 2023 admit card to the exam centre.
CLAT 2023 Exam Day Guidelines at the Exam Centre
The norms and rules are not only applicable for students but a set of instructions needs to be followed by the staff too. Check the model of conduct given below.
The staff will be assigned duties whereby they have to control the crowd and ensure orderly movement. In nutshell, the staff will have to manage the crowd.
Staff will be present at the entry gate of every exam centre with Thermo Guns.
Sufficient centre administration, clearing staff and invigilators with hand gloves and face masks will be deployed.
The exam centre will be sanitized thoroughly with spraying machines containing disinfectant liquid.
The test centre and washroom will be equipped with sufficient hand soap and hand sanitizers.
Candidates showcasing symptoms of coronavirus (fever, cough etc.) will not be allowed to enter the exam venue. They would be accommodated in a separate isolation lab where they would appear for the law exam.
PPE Kits will be provided to the staff functioning in the isolation lab.
Gloves and 3 ply masks will be provided to isolation lab candidates.
Banned Items for CLAT 2023 Exam Centre
All the items except for the ones prescribed by the conducting body will be banned in the examination hall. A few of them are as follows.
Any kind of metallic substances
Electronics or gadgets such as headphones, headset, health band, camera, Bluetooth, cellphones, pager, microphones etc.
Items like goggles, wallets, caps, handbags and belts are banned
Study materials or stationery items are not allowed inside other than the one mentioned on the notification. Candidates can not take pencil boxes, books, paper, calculators, plastic pouches, pen drives, erasers, log tables, paper bits, writing pads, electronic pens, scanners etc.
CLAT 2023 Dress Code
Aspirants are required to meet the dress code guidelines issued by CLAT 2023. Any candidate found not complying with them will be disqualified from the exam.
The aspirant needs to wear clothes with half sleeves. They should also not have a badge or big button which can be used to hide materials.
Candidates must wear light coloured clothes in order to eliminate any chance of concealing any kind of cheating material.
Shoes are not allowed in the exam centre. Candidates must either wear sandals or slippers.
Only analogue wrist watches are allowed inside the exam centre.
CLAT 2023 does not have a safekeeping place so the aspirants must not carry expensive or precious materials with them.
Candidates must not carry nose pins, rings, badges, chains etc. at any cost.
