Step-by-Step IIFT Shortlisting Process 2023

The IIFT Selection Process has four steps: the IIFT Exam, the Written Ability Test (WAT), the General Discussion (GD), and the Personal Interview (PI).

Aside from these requirements, interviewers also look at the applicant's work experience, how consistent their grades are, how diverse their grades are, and how diverse their gender is (if any). If a candidate follows all of these steps and does well, they will be able to enrol at any of IIFT's three campuses without any other problems. Most of the time, the IIFT test is conducted in the months of November and December. Before you send in your application for the exam, make sure you meet the IIFT Eligibility Criteria.

The IIFT shortlisting criteria 2023 consists of three stages. Each candidate has to go through the process in order to be shortlisted for the final admission. However, the same has been explained in detail below:

Stage 1: Shortlisting Process

Candidates are shortlisted based on the IIFT Cut Off 2023, which takes the sectional cut-offs into consideration.

  • Shortlisting the number of candidates for the final round is a second element that influences the percentile.
  • The actual cut-off score for male applicants is two points higher than the cut-off score for female applicants. This is where women have an edge over men. Look at the table below; it shows the criteria that were used to select which applicants will advance to the next level.

Stage 2 - WAT/GD/PI Round

IIFT scores will be given the highest weight, and other selection factors such as academic consistency, academic diversity, gender diversity, and employment experience will also be considered. Additionally, the candidate must participate in the following:

Writing Ability Test (WAT): Selected candidates are expected to write an essay on the topic assigned. The evaluation will largely concentrate on the individual's degree of clarity and understanding, as well as their ability to exhibit excellent idea presentation and exposition.

Group Discussion: Candidates that proceed to the following stage must engage in a group discussion on a specified topic. When assessing GD, the applicant's ability to demonstrate leadership talents, team player skills, communication skills, topic knowledge, and the ability to provide new perspectives on the problem will be taken into account.

Personal Interview: All candidates who are finally picked would be required to participate in a personal interview. This stage takes into account the applicant's academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and analytical abilities.

Stage 3 - Final Merit List

When determining the final merit list for the MBA-IB programme, the test administrators will consider the candidate's performance in both the IIFT 2023 and the PI rounds. Look at the table below for further details on the weightage of each parameter in the IIFT Selection Process 2023:
