Instructions to Upload Photograph and Signature in IIT JAM Application 2026: According to the official schedule, IIT JAM 2026 application form will be released on September 5, 2026. The last day to fill the application form for IIT JAM 2026 is October 12, 2026. So, the candidates must be ready to fill the IIT JAM 2026 application form and also check the instructions to be followed while filling up the form.

IIT JAM 2026 is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for admission to postgraduate programs in Science and Technology. IIT JAM 2026 is conducted in seven subjects: Biotechnology, Chemistry, Economics, Geology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, and Physics. Candidates can appear for one or more subjects.

IIT JAM exam will be held on February 15, 2026, in 100 cities across India. To appear in the exam it is important to successfully submit the application. However, sometimes aspirants get confused about the document size and format. Category Certificate Specifications

  • Candidates who belong to the Scheduled Castes (SC) or Scheduled Tribes (ST) or EWS category and are applying for a fee waiver must upload valid documentary proof. Certificates that are issued by authorized officials only will be accepted otherwise it can lead to disqualification.
  • Candidates who are applying for a fee concession under the Person with Disability (PwD) category must attach a recently obtained valid PwD certificate issued by the competent authority.
  • Category certificates must be submitted in PDF format.
  • The Category certificate file must be between 10 KB to 300 KB.

Photograph Specifications

  • The photograph must be coloured and have a white or very light background.
  • The image must be in JPEG format with dimensions of 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm.
  • The maximum size of the JPEG image can be 480×640 pixels (0.3 Megapixels) and the minimum pixel size of the JPEG image can be 240 X 320.
  • The file size for the photograph should be in the range of 20 KB to 200 KB and the aspect ratio (width: height) has to be between 0.66 and 0.89.
  • Do not wear any flashy glasses or accessories in the photograph.
  • Photographs of poor resolution will not be accepted. This can lead to rejection of the application.
  • In the photograph, the face should cover at least 50% area with a full face view. The candidate must be looking directly at the camera.
  • Any part of the face must not be covered by hair, any cloth/facemask, glass, or shadow.

Signature Specifications

  • The signature must be done in black or dark blue ink.
  • The image must be in JPEG/JPG format within 2 cm × 7 cm (Height × Width).
  • Maximum size of the JPEG/JPG image of the signature can be 160 × 560 pixels and the minimum pixel size of the image should be 80 × 280.
  • The file size of the signature image should be between 5 KB to 150 KB.
  • Name/Signature should be written in CAPITAL LETTERS.
