Structure of CUET 2024: Check Pattern (Revised), Marking and Exam Scheme

The National Testing Agency has revised the CUET 2024 structure, dividing it into three sections: the General Test, Domian-Specific, and IA and IB Languages. Find out about the most recent changes to the CUET 2024 exam pattern and structure here.

Structure of CUET 2024: Check Pattern, Marking and Exam Scheme

Structure of CUET 2024 has been revised into three sections: IA and IB Languages, Domian-Specific, and General Test. Aspirants interested in taking the CUET UG entrance exam must be familiar with the CUET 2024 exam pattern or structure. Section IA and IB question papers consist of 50 questions, 40 of which must be answered. Section II will contain either 40 or 50 questions, 35 and 45 of which must be attempted in accordance with the most recent CUET 2024 structure. The General Test of CUET 2024 will have 60 questions and test takers must answer 50 of them. 

The CUET UG 2024 will be conducted from May 15 to May 24, 2024. The CUET datasheet has been announced by the NTA. The exam will be held from May 15 to May 24, 2024, spanning a total of seven days. During the first four days, from May 15 to May 18, the exam will be conducted in offline mode. Following this, 48 test papers will be administered through Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode from May 21 to May 24,

Revised CUET Exam Pattern 2024

 The candidates can check the revised CUET 2024 exam pattern mentioned below.

  • In the year 2022, the CUET exam was conducted in 2 slots but this time NTA has decided to conduct the exam in three slots depending on the number of test takers and subject choices.

  • From all three sections, aspirants will be able to choose a maximum of ten subjects instead of nine. In the previous year, students were allowed to choose only 9 subjects as per the structure of CUET 2024.

  • The number of questions to be attempted in sections II and III has also been reduced. The students can choose 35 out of 45 and 40 out of 50 depending upon the domain subject. In the General Test Section, the students have to attempt 50 out of 60 questions as oper CUET exam pattern 2024.

CUET Exam Pattern 2024: Section IA & IB

In this section of the structure of CUET 2024, the language of the candidate is tested through various Reading Comprehension (RCs). The RCs will be in MCQ format and will be Literary, Factual and Narrative based. Below is the list of languages that candidates need to choose for Section IA & IB for the CUET 2024 exam pattern:

Section II offers a choice of 27 Subjects, out of which an aspirant may choose a maximum of six subjects. Candidates may select a maximum of 2 domain-specific subjects in Slot 1 and a maximum of 4 domain-specific subjects in Slot 2. CUET Exam Pattern 2024: Section III

Section III is a General Test for an undergraduate course (s) being provided by the educational institutes/ colleges where the General Test is used for granting admission. This section according to structure of CUET 2024 covers questions from Logical & Analytical Reasoning, General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Numerical Ability, General Mental Ability and Quantitative Reasoning (Simple application of basic mathematical concepts/ algebra geometry/ mensuration/ arithmetic/ stat taught till class 8).

Is there a Negative Marking in CUET Exam Pattern 2024?

Yes, CUET 2024 brings negative markings as per structure of CUET 2024. That means for every wrong answer in the MCQ section, you lose 1 mark. So, skip guessing the answers and mark those that you are sure of. Master your chosen subjects and topics, and choose accuracy over speed!  

Points to Remember about CUET Exam Structure 2024

Provided below are a few points to remember for the CUET 2024 exam pattern:

  1. Aspirants are required to choose a medium of instruction for the exam out of the 13 specified CUET languages. 

  2. The aspirants have to select the option of language for the CUET question paper according to CUET exam pattern 2024 while filling out the CUET application form 2024 and the option once selected cannot be changed later.

  3. The question paper will be bi-lingual, i.e. it will be in English and the medium (1 of the 13 languages) opted by the candidates as per the structure of CUET 2024.

  4. Candidates should not confuse the exam's medium with the "Language" chosen as a test component. The Language exam will assess candidates' skills/proficiency in the language of their choice, and it will not be bi-lingual, according to the CUET 2024 exam pattern.

  5. Before choosing domain-specific subjects, languages and general tests the applicant must check out the requirements of his/her intended College/ University. The choices made by candidates should match the requirements of the College/ University.

  6. An applicant can take a maximum of 10 tests in the following manner as per the structure of CUET 2024:

  • Maximum of 3 languages from Section IA & Section IB taken together, maximum of 5 Domain Subjects from Section II & General Test from Section III.

                                                                                                                              OR

  • Maximum of 2 languages from Section IA & Section IB taken together, maximum of 6 Domain Subjects from Section II & General Test from Section III.

CUET 2024 will be conducted in Computer Based Test or CBT mode as per the structure of CUET 2024. Candidates are required to prepare well for the exam in order to secure admission to the desired university through CUET.
