As many as 277 unapproved engineering colleges are functional in the country as per the HRD Ministry and AICTE. Check the list of fake engineering colleges in India here along with the state-wise distribution of the number of unapproved engineering colleges.

List of Unapproved Engineering Colleges in India by AICTE

There are many engineering colleges in India which are functioning without an approval from the nodal engineering education regulator - AICTE i.e. All India Council for Technical Education. There are close to 277 engineering institutes in India which do not have the mandatory approval of AICTE. The degrees offered by these engineering institutes are considered fake and lack authenticity. CollegeDekho advises students to be cautious while picking a college for themselves so that their career is not put in jeopardy. State-Wise Number of Fake Engineering Colleges:

According to the data available, Delhi has the maximum number of fake engineering colleges in the country, followed by Telangana and West Bengal respectively. In a recent order, the HRD Ministry has directed all the 277 fake engineering institutes in India to get the necessary approval from AICTE in order to keep functioning. If the institutes fail to do so, they will not have any other option except to shut down.
