The University of Delhi offers a wide variety of courses and programmes. Delhi University’s BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences is one such degree that is different from the other programmes offered by DU. BA (Hons) Social Sciences and Humanities is a degree that is offered by the Cluster Innovation Centre (CIC) and the degree is offered to the student as an innovation degree. The candidates who plan to pursue the programme from DU’s Cluster Innovation Centre will be able to construct their own degree, i.e. they will be able to choose their own subjects and courses that they wish to study under BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Science. The students who will be studying BA (Hons) Social Sciences and Humanities will also have the opportunity to pursue the programme from any Delhi University affiliated college, which they call as the 'meta-college' concept. However, the first and the last semester of the programme will be conducted at the CIC itself.

BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences is an interdisciplinary course, which means that the student will be able to choose any subject or course under the programme. The student will be asked to conduct research work at the undergraduate level itself. Among the courses that the student will be able to pursue under the programme are Journalism, Design, Art, Historical Tourism and Counselling.

Delhi University BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria 2019

Admissions to the BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences programme is done on the basis of the candidate meeting the eligibility criteria and appearing for the entrance examination. In order for the interested candidate to be shortlisted by the University, the candidate will need to meet the eligibility criteria that has been set by the Delhi University. The primary eligibility criterion is that the candidate should have passed the Class 12 board examination. The candidates will also be able to apply if they have recently appeared for the examination and are awaiting the results. However, General Category students will need to ensure that they have obtained a minimum aggregate score of 60% including English/MIL. Candidates belonging to the OBC will need a minimum aggregate score of 54%, meanwhile, PH and CW category candidates will be required to have a minimum aggregate score of 57%. The SC/ST candidates will need to have passed the class 12 board examination in order to pursue the programme under Delhi University.

Delhi University BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Exam Application Process 2019

The interested candidates must ensure that they have registered with the University of Delhi, in order to apply for BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences. For the admission to the programme, Delhi University accepts online application form only for DU BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Exam Application Form. Therefore, the candidates will need to create a login ID by registering with Delhi University and providing all the personal details asked by the varsity. The candidates will then have to choose the programme that they wish to pursue, i.e. BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences. The candidates must ensure that they have chosen the exact course that they wish to pursue at Delhi University. The candidates will then have to fill up the online application form. Once the application form has been completed, the candidates will be asked to attach the self-attested copies of all the documents that are required for the document verification for the selection process. The candidates will also need to attach a passport size photograph of the applicant along with a scanned image of the signature of the candidate (Max Size: 50KB in JPEG, JPG or PNG formats). Once all the details, as well as the self-attested copies of the documents, have been submitted with the University, the candidate will need to make the payment of the registration fee. The candidates will have to pay the registration fee via the online payment options that have been provided by the varsity. The candidates belonging to the SC/ST and the PwD category will have to pay Rs.250 as the registration fee, meanwhile, all the rest of the candidates belonging to the rest of the categories will be asked to pay Rs.500 as registration fee. Once the application form has been submitted along with the registration fee, the candidates are advised to take a printout of the application form for future reference along with a soft copy of the application form on their personal computers/laptop.

Documents Required for DU BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences Application 2019

The candidates who are interested in taking admission under the programme will need to bring certain documents in order for the University to verify the eligibility of the candidate. The documents required for DU BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences admissions are similar to the documents required for other programmes offered by the University of Delhi. Here is the list of document required for DU BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences Admissions:

  • Identity Proof (Aadhar Card, Driving License, Voter ID, Pan Card)
  • Self Attested Copy of all the Mark Sheets such as Class 10 Board Exam Mark sheet.
  • Self-Attested Copy of Certificate proving the caste of the candidate.

Delhi University BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Exam Admit Card 2019

In order to be able to appear for the entrance test, the candidates will need to bring the Delhi University BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Exam Admit Card 2019. The candidates will be able to download the admit card from the official website of the University of Delhi. The Entrance examination will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The candidates will need to visit the official website of Delhi University, click on Admit Card, enter the details asked by the new window that you will be led to and the admit card will be shown on the screen after pressing submit. The candidates will have to take a printout of the admit card and bring it to the entrance exam centre that has been allotted to them. The candidates will need to present the admit card to the invigilator at the centre to be able to appear for the exam.

Delhi University BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences Selection Process and Merit List 2019

Once the application has been submitted, the candidates will be called for the Delhi University BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences selection process and merit list. The candidates will have to meet all the eligibility criteria to be able to appear for the entrance examination. The selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination, therefore, the candidates must ensure that they have appeared for the examination and that they have complied with the entrance examination rules as per the regulations of Delhi University. The candidates will be informed of their selection status through the contact details that they have given the University or via a merit list that will be released by the college.

The candidates who are interested in pursuing the programme under the University of Delhi will have to appear for the entrance examination in order to be able to take admission to the programme. The Delhi University BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences Exam Pattern is pretty simple. The candidates will have to sit for a 2-hour Pen and Paper Test. The questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and applicants will have to answer a total of 100 questions in the stipulated time period. The candidates who are interested in taking a look at the entrance exam syllabus need not worry as Delhi University does not specify any particular syllabus for the entrance exam for BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences. However, the candidates will be asked questions from General Awareness, General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Logical Reasoning, Analytical Skills as well as Communication Skills in either English or Hindi. Each of the questions that will be asked by Delhi University under BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Exam will carry 4 marks each. However, the candidates will lose 1 mark each for every incorrect answer but there is negative marking for leaving a question blank.
