Was the NEET 2026 paper harder than 2025?

According to the very first reactions and reviews received by students, and paper analysis conducted by CollegeDekho team, NEET 2026 question paper was somewhat moderate, but easier than the 2025 paper. Last year, students witnessed one of the toughest NEET papers in recent year, primarily because of the exceptionally difficult Physics section. However, this year, NEET 2026 Physics question paper remained time-taking but more balanced. Students who appeared for NEET for the second time particularly found the paper more doable compared to last year. The Chemistry section came as a surprise to many due to some lengthy questions from Physical Chemistry; Biology remained one of the easiest and most scoring sections.

Physics Moderate to tough (Conceptual-heavy) Tough (Numerical-heavy)
Chemistry Moderate to tough (Time-consuming) Moderate to tough
Biology Easy to moderate (NCERT-based) Easy to moderate (Lengthy)

Will the cutoff drop if the NEET 2026 Paper is harder?

NEET qualifying cutoff usually takes a dip when the paper is perceived to be tough because it impacts the average performance of all 22.79 lakh students (in 2026). However, NEET admission cutoff for government colleges rarely drops. Even for a hard paper, the competition for approximately 25,000 government medical seats remains very high due to the easy availability of study materials and exceptional performance by many students, ensuring high marks regardless of the difficulty.
