NIFT Delhi Admission 2024

NIFT Delhi admissions are offered in design and communication courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech and MFM are some of the popular degrees available. These programmes give students both theoretical and practical training to get them ready for the workforce. To secure a seat at the institute, candidates must meet the NIFT Delhi admission criteria. The selections will be done based on the applicant's prior academic performance and entrance exam outcomes. For securing a spot during the NIFT Delhi admission process, candidates have to take the college's own entrance exam, which will be followed by a group discussion (GD) and a personal interview (PI) round. The best chances for admission in NIFT Delhi will go to applicants who make the cut off list.

NIFT Delhi UG Admission Criteria

The following are the eligibility requirements that need to be fulfilled by the candidates for NIFT Delhi UG admissions:

B.Des/ B.F.Tech

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 from a recognised board (Central Board of Secondary Education / State Board of Secondary Education New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi).
  • Candidates with any equivalent to 10+2 level exam from any public school/board/university exam in India or foreign countries recognised by the Association of Indian Universities can apply.
  • Candidates with a three or four-year-long diploma from any recognised board/university by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education can apply.
  • The age limit is 23 years as per October 31 of the admission year.

NIFT Delhi PG Admission Criteria

The following criteria must be met by applicants for NIFT Delhi PG admission:

M.Des/ MFM/ M.F.Tech

  • Candidates must have a UG degree in any field from a recognised university. 
  • UG diploma holders are also eligible. 
  • Candidates qualifying with B.Des from NIFT can apply to M.Des and MFM. 
  • Candidates qualifying with B.F.Tech from NIFT can apply to M.F.Tech.
  • B.E/ B.Tech graduates from any institute or university are also eligible for this course.
  • There is no age limit.

NIFT Delhi Application Process 2024

Only online applications are accepted for the NIFT Delhi admissions procedure. The steps for the online application are as follows:

  • Visit the official National Institute of Fashion Technology Delhi website (nift.ac.in). 
  • Click on Register or Apply Online link.
  • Fill out by providing the details required. 
  • Go through the form and review it carefully by checking all the information provided are valid or not.
  • After this, select the course you are willing to apply for.
  • Upload your recent photogram and signature in the required format. 
  • Pay the NIFT Delhi application fee through online payment methods.
  • Take a printout of the application form and fee payment receipt for future use.

Documents Required

The following is the list of documents required during the National Institute of Fashion Technology Delhi admission procedure:

  • Self-attested 10+2 qualifying exam mark sheet and certificate.
  • Proof of date of birth, secondary school mark sheet and certificate (original and photocopy).
  • SC/ST/OBC Non-Creamy Layer/PWD certificate (if any). 
  • Medical Fitness Certificate signed by a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format.

NIFT Delhi Application Fees

The application fee required for the National Institute of Fashion Technology admission process is Rs 3,000 for the Open/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ Open-EWS Category and Rs 1,500 for the SC/ST/PWD Category. This fee is non-refundable. If candidates are unable to pay the application fee on the last date of registration, they will have to pay a late fee of Rs 5,000 along with the application fee.

NIFT Delhi Selection Process 2024

The selection process varies for undergraduate and postgraduate admissions. Given below are the requirements for both:

NIFT Delhi UG Selection Process

The undergraduate programmes offered at the National Institute of Fashion Technology Delhi are B.Des and B.F.Tech. 

B.Des

The NIFT entrance exam for B.Des comprises of General Ability Test (GAT) and the Creative Ability Test (CAT). Candidates must show up for both. A Situation Test would also be required of the shortlisted candidates. The CAT score is given 50% weight in the final merit list, the GAT score is given 30% weight, and the Situation Test is given 20% weight. The General Ability Test (GAT) for B.Des is a written exam with a 120-minute time limit. There are 100 questions total, broken down into the following sections: Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Analytical Ability, General Knowledge and Current Affairs.

B.FTech

The NIFT entrance exam for B.F.Tech comprises of General Ability Test (GAT). The GAT part consists of a written exam with 150 questions spread across five sections: Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability & English Comprehension, Analytical & Logical Ability, General Knowledge and Current Affairs and Case Study. It lasts 180 minutes in total.

NIFT Delhi PG Selection Process

The postgraduate programmes offered at the National Institute of Fashion Technology Delhi are M.Des, MFM and M.F.Tech. 

M.Des

The CAT and GAT exams must be taken by the candidates. Those who made the cut for the exam will also be contacted for the GD/PI round. CAT scores will be given a 40% weighting, GAT scores a 30% weighting and GD/PI scores a 30% weighting. The GAT exam for M.Des is a written exam with a 120-minute time limit that has 120 questions broken up into five sections: quantitative ability, communication ability, English comprehension, analytical ability, general knowledge, and current affairs.

MFM/ M.F.Tech

The GAT Entrance Exam must be taken by the candidates. The candidates who have been shortlisted will then be contacted for the GD/PI rounds. GAT scores are given 70% of the total weight, whereas GD/PI scores are given 30%. The GAT exam for M.F.Tech and MFM is a written exam with 150 questions broken down into five sections: Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability and English Comprehension, Analytical and Logical Ability, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, and Case Study. The test has a total time limit of 180 minutes.

Dear Student,

You cannot pursue a fashion design course from NIFT, Delhi unless you have completed at least class 12th! You can go for online design courses to strengthen your aptitude and skills. It would help you develop a basic knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and CAD.

You can also complete your high school and then go for a diploma or certificate course in Fashion Design! Colleges such as Parul University, Gujarat, Vogue Institute of Art and Design (VIAD), Bangalore, LISAA School of Design (LISAA), Bangalore and ARCH College of Design & Business, Jaipur offer some top-notch short-term fashion design courses.

Dear Student,

No such discount on fee is available for the disabled candidate in NIFT, Delhi, however, you can avail the SARTHAK scholarship offered by the institute. If your parental income is up to Rs. 1.5 Lakhs per annum, you get a 100% fee waiver. If it lies between Rs. 1.5 Lakhs to Rs. 2.5 Lakhs, students will be awarded 75% fee waiver. Also, if the income of the parent is between 2.5 Lakhs to Rs. 4.0 Lakhs, 50% fee concession is offered.
