JEE Main 2024 Normalization Method and Percentile

One of the most common things that comes to mind after the conclusion of the JEE Main exam is the comparison of JEE Main score vs percentile. The National Testing Agency (NTA) uses a normalization formula to specify the percentile rank in Maths, Chemistry, and Physics subjects. This JEE Main normalization method is also used to determine the JEE Main merit list. The JEE Main percentile score is calculated to the seventh decimal place to avoid any possible deadlocks. It is calculated after concluding the normalization method for each session on a scale of 100 - 0.

The JEE Main normalization formula utilized to estimate the JEE Main percentile is -

100 x (The number of candidates whose raw session score is equal to or less than the candidate’s total score) / (The total number of candidates who participated in that particular session)

JEE Main Marking Scheme

According to the marking scheme of JEE Mains, the question paper will consist maximum score of 300 marks. Candidates are required to answer 75 questions out of a total of 90 questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. For each subject candidates have to appear for 20 MCQs, each with 1 right answer, and a total of 5 questions out of 10 to be attempted. Candidates for every correct answer will be awarded 4 marks and 1 mark will be deducted for wrong answers. There is no deduction in marks for unattempted questions.

How to Get a Good Score in JEE Main Physics

As per the experts, Mechanics is the most asked topic in JEE Main Physics. Based on the previous year's trends, maximum questions are asked from Mechanics and candidates are advised not to miss any topics from here. Practice the chapters from the bets books recommended by toppers and solve the previous year's questions of JEE Main to get a grip on the concepts.

How to Get a Good Score in JEE Main Chemistry

Some of the important topics in JEE Main Chemistry are Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, so candidates must put in their efforts to score well in these sections alongside Physical Chemistry chapters. Electrochemistry, Chemical Equilibrium, and Molecular Theory are some of the topics that require full concentration. When studying Organic Chemistry, pay concentration on Stereochemistry, General Organic Chemistry, and Functional Group Analysis. This field depends laboriously on theoretical and application problems. Candidates must prepare for Chemical Bonding, Biomolecules, and Coordination issues.

How to Get a Good Score in JEE Main Mathematics

Candidates should pay attention to Vectors and 3D rather than Probability or Indefinite Integration, as these chapters are regarded more important by the experts. Approximately 2 to 3 questions are posed from the chapter on Complex Numbers. Besides, as per the previous year's trend, a strong emphasis was placed on topics based on Algebra, Calculus, and Coordinate Geometry. Trigonometry, Mathematical Reasoning, Determinants, Statistics, and Mathematical Induction should also be given emphasis.
