What is the All India Bar Examination (AIBE)?

The All India Bar Examination, abbreviated as AIBE, is a competitive test for prospective lawyers held at the national level and administered by the Bar Council of India (BCI). AIBE is a test that has to be taken by advocates who want to be able to work as lawyers in India to determine whether they are qualified to do so. The BCI holds two sessions of the examination each year.

The AIBE is the examination that the candidates must pass to be eligible to apply for a "Certificate of Practice" in the legal industry. Candidates interested in taking part in AIBE XVII 2022 must have fulfilled all of the eligibility requirements and finished either a 3-year LLB or a 5-year Integrated LLB programme. AIBE has been held annually by the BCI since 2011 and passing it is necessary for all students who started their law studies in 2009 or later.

The results of the AIBE 2022 are also announced differently than those of a common law entrance exam, further illustrating the significant differences between the two. Therefore, candidates frequently struggle with the questions and doubts related to AIBE.
