The Bar Council of India has recently revised AIBE 18 Passing Marks. Students who are awaiting results for AIBE 18 exam 2023 can find the revised AIBE qualifying marks here.

AIBE Passing Marks

The Bar Council of India recently made an announcement about the revised AIBE passing marks. As per the announcement, the AIBE 18 passing marks will be 45% for General category and OBC candidates, and 40% for SC/ ST candidates. Therefore, any candidate who has taken the exam will have to score the AIBE minimum qualifying marks in order to successfully pass the exam.

The All India Bar Examination or AIBE 2023 was held on December 10, 2023, in an offline mode. The conducting body is expected to release the AIBE 18 exam result 2023 most probably by this week. All candidates who have appeared for the exam must be aware that scoring higher than the AIBE 18 passing marks is mandatory to qualify the exam and become eligible for the Certificate of Practice (CoP).

After passing the AIBE exam, candidates receive a Certificate of Practice (CoP) that grants them the eligibility to practice law in any court across India. To qualify the AIBE 2023 exam, one has to at least score the minimum marks decided by the conducting body.

The Bar Council of India (BCI) is the authority responsible for carrying out the All India Bar Examination every year. It also decides the AIBE passing marks for all categories. Explore this article for comprehensive information on AIBE 2023 passing marks and other relevant details.

What is AIBE 18 Passing Marks 2023?

The Bar Council of India has established the minimum passing marks for AIBE XVIII. Those scoring below the qualifying threshold of AIBE XVIII will not qualify the exam and will have to retake it. Candidates can take multiple attempts until they attain the necessary AIBE passing marks, ensuring a fair chance to meet the examination's standards.

However, if errors in certain questions are identified during the final evaluation, resulting in their exclusion, the passing marks of that AIBE exam will be adjusted accordingly to accommodate the change in total marks.

Factors Determining AIBE 18 Passing Marks 2023

The AIBE pass marks depend on several factors and these determinants play a significant role.

  • Minimum Passing Criteria - The category wise minimum marks required by the individual to qualify the AIBE exam and be eligible to be granted the Certificate of Practice.

  • Discrepancies in AIBE Answer Keys - Before the AIBE results are announced, BCI releases provisional answer keys for students to analyze their performance. If students find any discrepancy in the AIBE answer key, then they can raise their objections by following the procedure prescribed by the conducting body. If found correct, the authorities will take into account the challenges raised by students which may lead to a modification in the passing marks for AIBE.

  • Total Questions of Result Evaluation - The AIBE passing marks also change if the total number of questions are modified. All the questions which have errors are not counted at the time of final evaluation. Let us understand this with a simple example. If during AIBE 2023, 5 questions had errors, they will be dropped from the final evaluation. The total marks of the exam will then be reduced to 95 which originally according to the exam pattern was 100. This will also change the passing marks of AIBE accordingly.

What after AIBE 18 Passing Marks 2023?

Once AIBE 18 passing marks 2023 are out, students who appeared for the exam will know their qualifying status. Those who clear the exam and score above the AIBE cutoff 2023 will be eligible to get the Certificate of Practice from the BCI. They can proceed with the formalities to be certified for practising law in any court of India.

On the other hand, students who fail to qualify AIBE 18 will also have several options to pursue. Some of them include:

  • Students can always get started on their AIBE preparation for the next cycle. With an early start, they will have enough time to go through the AIBE syllabus and AIBE exam pattern and solidify their preparation plan.
  • Many candidates find external resources such as coaching institutes, online classes, etc. to be helpful in their preparation as compared to self-study. Joining such a class for AIBE mock tests and AIBE sample papers can aid your performance in the exam.
  • Some students also prefer to take up job roles after LLB while preparing for the next AIBE exam.
  • Alternatively, interested candidates can also opt for higher education such as MBA after law to enhance their career prospects.
Since there is no limit to age or the number of attempts for AIBE, students can take their time and prepare for the exam to pursue their dream of practising law. There are many options to strengthen one's employability while appearing for AIBE.
