Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is a state government university. CUSAT CAT Law 2022, will be conducted for offering admission to the university. The application form for CUSAT was released on 8 Feb 2022 and eligible candidates could apply till 25 March 2022. The exam for 3-year LLB will be held on 14 May 2022 and the admit card can be downloaded from 1-14 May 2022.

Established in 1971, the varsity was originally known as the University of Cochin and the name changed to CUSAT university later. CUSAT offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various disciplines like Law, Science, Humanities, Management, Technology, and Engineering. The university is accredited by NAAC and approved by AICTE.

Law aspirants will have to appear for a university-level Common Admission Test (CAT) which will be held in 2 parts. For LLB, Part 1 will comprise Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning while Part 2 will include GK & Current Affairs and English. For LLM, Part 1 will be English, GK, and Analytical Reasoning, and Part 2 will be based on Compulsory papers in Law as prescribed by the BAR Council of India.

CUSAT Law Admission Eligibility Criteria 2022

Candidates who want to enroll in the law courses in CUSAT need to satisfy the eligibility criteria of the desired programme. Applicants must apply for the law courses keeping in mind the eligibility of each course. Listed below are the course-wise eligibility criteria for Law Admission at CUSAT 2022.

Passed class 12 with 60% aggregate marks in Science/Commerce. 5% relaxation to SC/ST.


Bachelor’s Degree with 40% aggregate marks. 5% relaxation for SC/ST.


Bachelor’s Degree in Law with 45% aggregate marks


3 Years of Bachelor's Degree in Law with 55% of the minimum score.

How to Apply for CUSAT Law Admission 2022?

The CUSAT Law Application 2022 is available only in online mode. In order to apply for law admission at the university, the applicants are required to follow the detailed step by step procedure mentioned below.

  • The candidates will have to visit the official website of CUSAT.

  • Click on the tab reflecting “New Candidate Registration”.

  • Enter the crucial information including the contact number and email ID.

  • After the registration, the candidates have to log in with the provided email ID and password.

  • In the next step, Important details like gender, nationality, father’s name, mother’s name, address, etc. are to be filled.

  • After filling in the entire details, click the submit button to proceed further.

  • Upload the scanned copies of your signature and recent passport size photograph. (The size of the photograph and scanned signature should not be more than 500 KB and 100 KB respectively. Additionally, the image should be in JPG format.)

  • Then the applicants are required to apply for the course they are interested in. They can also apply for more than one course by clicking on the option of ‘others’.

  • After reviewing the application once, the candidate needs to click on the submit button.

  • Click on the link that says “Proceed to Make Payment” to make an online payment.

  • Select the test centre after the fee payment is done.

  • Take the print out of the application for future use.

Note: It is to be noted that the image of the scanned signature should be with a white background and the dimension of the image should be 130px X 57 px. The passport-sized photograph should be in a light background and with the dimension of 150px X 180px.

CUSAT CAT Law Counselling 2022

A merit list is prepared after the result for those candidates who have cleared the cutoff of the exam. LLB and LLM aspirants will be required to appear for the GD and PI rounds while LLB aspirants will be directly invited for CUSAT CAT Law Counselling process which will be conducted through an online mode.

LLM candidates will be called for counselling based on their performances in written exam, group discussion and personal interview. Interested applicants will have to register themselves and upload valid documents in order to participate in the process. Aspirants are shortlisted for law admission based on their overall performance.
