The section that follows contains a list of IIT JAM 2026 exam preparation tips that are not only related to studies but also to practical aspects.

1. Revision: Isn't it annoying when you memorise something only to forget the concept on the day of the exam? It usually occurs when you do not revise your subjects, especially in the days leading up to the exam. The best way to revise any subject is to answer as many questions as possible about it.

2. Practice: IIT JAM sample papers and previous year question papers: Solving a previous year's question paper will not only boost your confidence but will also help you learn the frequently asked questions. With a few days left, you should be able to complete at least two to three question papers. Use the remaining time to work on your weaknesses.

3. Identify your areas for improvement: As you revise your notes and solve IIT JAM sample papers, you may notice some areas where you lack consistency or clarity. Go over the notes again and try answering questions of varying difficulty levels to eliminate your weak points.

4. Avoid studying new topics: Starting with a new topic will reduce your revision hours and may cause confusion. Students frequently try to cover every topic on the syllabus and end up remembering only a portion of it. Instead, it is suggested that they focus on reviewing key topics and answering questions about them.

5. Set a timer and do an exam rehearsal: Find a quiet place and begin attempting any mock test or sample paper. Set a timer for three hours and try to finish the test within that time frame. As many questions as you can with the greatest accuracy. IIT JAM Exam practise will allow you to assess your speed and accuracy.

6. Don't waste time: If you manage your time well, you'll have plenty of time to work on your weak points. Do not waste time watching television or planning a day out with friends because every minute counts from now on. Prepare a small pocket notebook in which to jot down important formulas, definitions, graphs, diagrams, and so on, and keep it with you wherever you go.

7. Have your IIT JAM admit card and all necessary documents ready: Make a hard copy of IIT JAM 2026 admit card on an A4 sheet of paper. Along with your admit card, you must also bring the following documents:

  • Two passport-sized photos

  • Original photo identification proof (preferably Aadhar card/PAN card/Driving License/Voter ID)

  • IIT Roorkee issued a travel permit

8. Maintain a healthy body and avoid junk food: They say that "a healthy mind resides in a healthy body," which is possibly the most important factor in maximising your performance. To stay in shape, students must meditate and do light exercises. They should also avoid eating junk food because a single illness can ruin your chances of putting forth your best effort.
