IIT JAM Admission Procedure 2024: Admission Form (10 April), Fees, Participating Colleges

IIT JAM 2024 admission opens on April 10, 2024. Between April 10 and April 24, 2024, applications must be submitted through the JAM 2024 website. To apply for admission, candidates must pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 750 online at https://joaps.iitm.ac.in. Applications for admission will only be accepted from those on the JAM 2024 Merit List. The JAM 2024 counselling process will consist of four rounds and be entirely conducted online. Candidates who pass the JAM 2024 are eligible to apply for admission to approximately 3000 seats in IITs for the academic year 2024-25. Admission to the programmes in Admitting Institutes under JAM 2024 does not require any additional evaluation processes, such as a suitability test or an interview. Also, please note that the option to change the category ended on April 9, 2024.

IIT JAM is a Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM) which is conducted on the behalf of the HRD Ministry by IITs for admission into MSc programs. The IIT JAM 2024 was conducted on February 11, 2024. IIT Madras has released the IIT JAM 2024 Result with the final answer key for all subjects. The Final answer key and results of IIT JAM is released on March 20, 2024. IIT JAM Admission Process 2024

The students who qualify for the IIT JAM 2024 exam will be eligible for filling the admission form for MSc admission through IIT JAM. The students will have to visit the official website of JOAPS to fill the IIT JAM 2024 admission application form. The students can check the detailed IIT JAM admission procedure 2024 as given below:

1. After the result for IIT JAM 2024 is declared, the students with their names in the merit list will visit the official JOAPS website to fill the application form. 
2. After visiting the JOAPS website, the students will have to fill the admission form using the required details such as category, educational qualification, marks/grades, PWD status, etc. The students will also have to select the preferred program to avail of admission in. After filling the admission form, the students will have to pay the admission fee of INR 600.
3. As per the educational qualification and the rank obtained by the student in the exam, the admission authority will prepare and release the first admission list.
4. After the first IIT JAM 2024 admission list is released, the concerned candidates will be sent intimation by the admission authority. For confirming the seats in the allotted institute, the candidate will have to pay some advanced college fee as the booking fee through the official JOAPS website.
5. In case the seats remain vacant after the first admission list, the admission authority will release a second IIT JAM 2024 admission list. The students who have their names in the second admission list, but not in the first will have to submit an application form. Again, the students will pay the advanced seat booking fee for confirming their admission seats.
6. Even after the seats remain vacant after the second IIT JAM 2024 admission list, the admission authority will release a 3rd and final admission list for the eligible candidates. The students will have to follow similar steps for paying the advanced booking fee for admission.
7. After the release of the final admission list, the IIT JAM 2024 admission procedure will be closed.

Important Note regarding IIT JAM Admission Procedure 2024

Candidates must follow these instructions while applying for the IIT JAM 2024 admission.

• Only one admission form can be filled by the candidates so they need to be very careful while filling out the admission form of IIT JAM 2024.
• The OBC/SC/ST and other reserved candidates must upload the reservation documents/certificates  
• The candidate must fill the IIT JAM admission form 2024 before the deadline else they wont be able to take admission this year.
• The students must carefully cross-check all the information provided in the admission form. Any incomplete information or unavailability of program choice will lead to the rejection of the admission form of the respective student.

The advanced booking fee for IIT JAM 2024 admission process for each of the candidates are given below. The candidates need to freeze their seats once the seats are allotted to them. The candidates have to pay the fee in an online mode via Debit card/Credit card/Net banking.

Documents Required for IIT JAM Admission Procedure 2024 

For getting admission into MSc programs through IIT JAM 2024, the qualified students will have to submit certain documents. The documents submitted by the students will be verified once before the final IIT JAM 2024 admission. The following documents must be brought by the students for IIT JAM admission 2024:

• Copy of the admission form filled by the candidate.

• Photocopy and original 10th and 12th mark sheet with proper grades visible on the mark sheet.

• Photocopy and original Qualification degree certificate and mark sheet

• Scanned copy of category certificate (for SC/ST and other category students)

• Scanned copy of PWD certificate (for PWD category students)

• Recent Passport size photograph

Eligibility Criteria for IIT JAM Admission 2024

IIT JAM 2024 admission is only given to the students who fulfill the qualification as required. The admission authority will release the admission list for IIT JAM on the basis of a candidate’s qualification. The students are advised to go through the following qualification requirement before going for IIT JAM admission 2024:

• The students must hold a bachelor’s degree in any stream of Bachelors of Science.

• The students must have Physics, Mathematics, or Biology as one of the major subjects in the BSc degree.

• The students applying for M.Sc in Mathematics must have Mathematics as the major subject in their bachelor's degree.

• The students must have cleared an intermediate degree in science with major subjects as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

• For pursuing an M.Sc degree in Geophysics, the student must have Physics as the major subject at graduation level, with Mathematics as the subsidiary subject, along with any other optional subjects such as Chemistry, Statistics, Geology, Electronics, and Computer Science.

The participating institutes for IIT JAM admission 2024 are divided into two parts: the result sharing institutes and the admitting institutes.
