IIT JAM is a Joint Admission Test for M.Sc (JAM) which is conducted on the behalf of the HRD Ministry by IITs for admission into M.Sc programs. The IIT JAM 2021 exam is going to be conducted on February 14, 2021. This article will cover all the important details related to IIT JAM 2021 admission procedure including the dates, documents, qualification, fee and the participating colleges.
IIT JAM 2021 Admission Dates
The below table consists of all the important dates for IIT JAM 2021 admission. Students are advised to go through the dates.

IIT JAM Admission Process 2021
The students who qualify for the IIT JAM 2021 exam will be eligible for filling the admission form for M.Sc admission through IIT JAM. The students will have to visit the official website of JOAPS to fill the admission application form. The students can check the detailed admission procedure for IIT JAM 2021 as given below:
After the result for IIT JAM 2021 is declared, the students with their names in the merit list will visit the official JOAPS website to fill the application form.
Important Note: the OBC/SC/ST and other reserved candidates must upload the reservation documents/certificates issued before 31st March 2021 after the result for IIT JAM 2021 is declared.
After visiting the JOAPS website, the students will have to fill the admission form using the required details such as category, educational qualification, marks/grades, PWD status, etc. The students will also have to select the preferred program to avail the admission in. After filling the admission form, the students will have to pay the admission fee of INR 600.
Important Note: The students must carefully cross-check all the information provided in th admission form. Any incompleted information or unavailability of program choice will lead to the rejection of admission form of the respective student.
As per the educational qualification and the rank obtained by the student in the exam, the admission authority will prepare and release the first admission list.
After the first admission list is released, the concerned candidates will be sent the intimation by the admission authority. For confirming the seats in the allotted institute, the candidate will have to pay some advanced college fee as the booking fee through the official JOAPS website.
The advanced booking fee for each of the candidates are given as below:

In case the seats remain vacant after the first admission list, the admission authority will release a second admission list. The students who have their names in the second admission list, but not in the first will have to submit an application form. Again, the students will pay the advanced seat booking fee for confirming their admission seats.
Even after the seats remain vacant after the second admission list, the admission authority will release a 3rd and final admission list for the eligible candidates. The students will have to follow similar steps for paying the advanced booking fee for admission.
After the release of the final admission list, the admission procedure for IIT JAM 2021 will be closed.
Documents Required for Admission through IIT JAM 2021
For getting admission into M.Sc programs through IIT JAM 2021, the qualified students will have to submit certain documents. The documents submitted by the students will be verified once before the final admission. The following documents must be brought by the students for IIT JAM admission 2021:
Copy of the admission form filled by the candidate.
Photocopy and original 10th and 12th mark sheet with proper grades visible on the mark sheet.
Photocopy and original Qualification degree certificate and mark sheet
Copy and original of fee receipt
Scanned copy of category certificate (for SC/ST and other category students)
Scanned copy of PWD certificate (for PWD category students)
Recent Passport size photograph
Scanned signature
Eligibility Criteria for Admission through IIT JAM 2021
Admission through IIT JAM 2021 is only given to the students who fulfil the qualification as required. The admission authority will release the admission list for IIT JAM on the basis of a candidate’s qualification. The students are advised to go through the following qualification requirement before going for IIT JAM admission 2021:
The students must hold a bachelor’s degree in any stream of Bachelors of Science.
The students must have Physics, Mathematics, or Biology as one of the major subjects in the B.Sc degree.
The students applying for M.Sc in Mathematics must have Mathematics as the major subject in bachelor's degree.
The students must have cleared an intermediate degree in science with major subjects as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
For pursuing an M.Sc degree in Geophysics, the student must have Physics as the major subject at graduation level, with Mathematics as the subsidiary subjects, along with any of other optional subjects as Chemistry, Statistics, Geology, Electronics and Computer Science.
IIT JAM Admission 2021: Participating Institutes
The participating institutes for IIT JAM Admission 2021 are divided into two parts: the result sharing institutes and the admitting institutes. The admitting institutes for IIT JAM are the IITs and IISc. There are a total of 21 participating institutes for IIT JAM 2021. On the other hand, result-sharing institutes are those colleges that accept the admission to M.Sc admission through IIT JAM exam but are not IITs.
