Boost your JEE Main 2026 Maths score! Master Coordinate and 3D Geometry with the practice problems and solutions provided in this article.

The Coordinate and 3D Geometry are an important part of the JEE Main Mathematics syllabus 2026, covering nearly 9.9% of the total weightage. Every year, students get around 4–6 questions in JEE Main from Coordinate and 3D Geometry combined, contributing roughly 16–24 marks. These problems test not only your mathematical skill but also your spatial visualisation, algebraic skill, and logical reasoning.
Coordinate Geometry deals with representing geometric figures algebraically in the plane, while 3D Geometry extends this understanding into space using vectors and Cartesian coordinates. As the exam is approaching, solve the JEE Main Coordinate and 3D Geometry practice problems given in this article.

Coordinate and 3D Geometry Solved Problems for JEE Main 2026
Check here some of the problems and solutions for the Coordinate and 3D Geometry for JEE Main 2026.
Q1. Find the equation of the line passing through (1, 2) and perpendicular to the line 3x − 4y + 7 = 0.
Solution:
Slope of given line m1 = 3 / 4
So, perpendicular slope m2 = - 4 / 3
Equation: y − 2 = - 4 / 3 (x - 1)
⇨ 4x + 3y - 10 = 0
Answer: 4x + 3y - 10 = 0
Q2. Find the distance between A(3, -2) and B(-1, 4).
Solution:
AB = √(3+1)2 + (-2-4)2 = √16 + 36 = 2√13
Answer: 2√13
Q3. Find the coordinates of the point dividing AB in the ratio 2:3, where A(2, -1), B(7, 4).
Solution:
(x , y) = [3(2) + 2(7)/ 5 , 3(-1) + 2(4)/ 5] = (4 , 1)
Answer:
(4 , 1)

JEE Main 2026 Coordinate and 3D Geometry Preparation Tips
Find below the preparation tips for the Coordinate and 3D Geometry chapters of JEE Main 2026 :
For the Coordinate and 3D Geometry, you need to prepare the cartesian system of rectangular coordinates in a plane, conics, slope of a line, parallel and perpendicular lines, intercepts of a line on coordinate axes, coordinates of a point in space, distance between two points in 3-D, equations of a line and a plane in different forms and other important chapters.
Break down the JEE Main 2026 syllabus into subtopics, and for 3-D geometry, start with points in space and distance, lines in space, and planes and skew lines.
Start with basic problems during preparation, then move to medium, then harder ones, especially for 3D geometry.
Follow standard textbooks like RD Sharma/M.L. Khanna for coordinate geometry, or any good JEE mathematics series for practice.
The sample questions provided here are some of the important questions for JEE Main 2026. Aspirants must prepare themselves by solving more and more JEE Main Mathematics practice questions with solutions and tracking their accuracy and daily progress with mock test papers.

FAQs
Solve at least 10 to 15 mixed geometry questions daily and have a balance of coordinate, 3D, and vector-based problems. Review all mistakes in a dedicated error log.
Common errors include sign mistakes, incorrect use of formulas, and confusion between slope and intercept forms. Always cross-check with diagrams.
Recommended books include NCERT Mathematics, Cengage Coordinate Geometry by G. Tewani, and Arihant’s Coordinate Geometry by S.K. Goyal. For 3D Geometry, NCERT and RD Sharma Objective Mathematics are excellent.
Start with direction cosines, equations of lines and planes, and learn to visualise problems. Practice vector-based questions and past-year problems regularly.
Around 4 to 6 questions are asked from Coordinate and 3D Geometry combined, making them high-weightage and scoring topics.
