  • 24th Sep 2020: Round 1 counselling for WB GNM/ ANM 2020 admissions has begun. The seat matrix for Round 2 of counselling will be published on 27th Sep 2020.
  • 14th Sep 2020: The conducting authority released a notification stating the updation of the counselling schedule. Check the revised dates.

The Department of Health & Family Welfare, The Govt. of Bengal conducts ANM and GNM admissions in the state of West Bengal every year. Nursing courses have their own student base in India. Eligibility Criteria for West Bengal ANM/ GNM 2020 Admissions

It is a must that you meet all the entry requirements for the intended course. We have mentioned the criteria for both the courses below.

ANM/ GNM Eligibility Criteria for 2020 Admissions in West Bengal

Educational Qualifications: You must have completed Class 12 or equivalent level of education from West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education and Skill Development or West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education.

Minimum Percentage Required: One must have scored a minimum of 40 per cent marks in aggregate as well as in the English language.

Gender: For the ANM course, only female candidates can apply. For the GNM course, both male and female candidates are eligible. 

Minimum Age: 17 years

Maximum Age: 27 years

Citizenship: You must be the Citizen of India with a permanent residency of West Bengal for at least 5 years before the application date. 

Language Fluency: One must be fluent in writing/ reading/ expressing Bengali or Nepali.

How to Apply for ANM/ GNM Admissions in West Bengal 2020

  • The application process for ANM and GNM admissions in the state of West Bengal is completed in online mode. 

  • In order to apply, you will have to visit the official website of The Department of Health & Family Welfare, The Govt. of Bengal.

  • After that, the first step would be registering to the website by entering your personal details. 

  • Then, using your login credentials, you will have to log into the website and begin filling the application form. 

  • After that, you will have to upload the supporting documents and submit the application form. 

  • Do not forget to download the form and keep a hard copy of it for future use. 

  • After the submission, you will be given the provision to fill and lock your choice for institute preferences.

Selection Process for ANM/ GNM Admissions in West Bengal 2020

  • The selection process for GNM/ ANM courses in West Bengal is strictly done on the basis of candidates’ merit in the qualifying examination. 

  • Top four subjects are chosen to make the merit list. One of these compulsory subjects is English. 

  • After all the applications have been submitted, the conducting authority releases a merit list on its official website. 

  • Candidates who make it to the list are then called for document verification/ counselling process. 

  • After that, candidates are allotted seats at institutions as per their preference (provided during application form filling) and their merit.
