IIT Bombay Fees 2026: BTech, MTech, MBA & Hostel Fee Structure

IIT Bombay fees 2026 range from INR 8.59 Lakhs (BTech, 4 years) to INR 15.15 Lakhs (MBA, 2 years). Indian Institute of Technology BTech fee is INR 2,15,500 per year for Indian nationals — tuition is INR 2,00,000 per year (INR 1,00,000 per semester). SC, ST, and PwD students get a full tuition fee waiver, bringing their total 4-year cost down to INR 59,000. 

IIT Bombay MBA course is offered from SJMSOM. The total programme fee is INR 15,15,500 for General/EWS/OBC-NCL students (2025–27 batch), as per the official SJMSOM website. Fees at IIT Bombay MTech vary from INR 1.13 Lakhs to INR 3.53 Lakhs for the full 2-year duration, depending on the programme and fellowship status.  

IIT Bombay hostel fees is charged each semester separately — INR 16,900 per semester for UG students, plus a mess advance of INR 22,500 per semester. PG students pay INR 19,700 per semester for hostel plus INR 27,000 mess advance.

IIT Bombay's fee structure for 2026 has 3 main components: academic fees (tuition + semester charges), one-time admission fees, and hostel/mess charges. Bombay IIT tuition fees is the biggest element — INR 1,00,000 per semester for UG students. On top of that, each semester carries additional charges including registration and exam fee, Gymkhana fee, Student Benevolent Fund, accident insurance, and medical fee. Admission fee and student welfare fund are one-time payments paid at the time of admission. The INR 10,000 refundable deposits are returned on programme completion, subject to no dues.

Hostel fees are billed each semester separately and are not included in the academic fee totals. The total IIT Bombay cost of a BTech student living on campus is INR 13.97 Lakhs over 4 years for an Indian national in the General category.

I I T Bombay UG fees 2026 is INR 1,07,750 per semester for Indian nationals — this includes the INR 1,00,000 tuition fee and INR 7,750 in other per-semester charges. SC, ST, and PwD students are exempt from tuition, so they pay INR 7,750 per semester. The IIT Bombay BTech is available across 11 specialisations; all carry the same tuition regardless of branch. Similarly, the IIT Bombay BDes programme (4 years, via UCEED) and the IIT Bombay BSc course follow the identical academic fee structure. Note: BTech (8 semesters), BDes (8 semesters), and BS (8 semesters) follow identical academic fee structures. The Dual Degree BTech + MTech spans 10 semesters.  

Income-based fee remission: General, OBC-NCL, and EWS students whose parental income is below INR 1 Lakh per annum get full tuition waiver. Students with parental income between INR 1 Lakh and INR 5 Lakhs per annum receive a two-thirds tuition remission.

IIT Bombay PG students fall into 2 groups for fee purposes. Group I (Sponsored) covers students admitted with a Teaching Assistantship (TA) — they pay a concessional tuition fee of INR 10,000 per semester. Group II covers non-sponsored and full-paying students, who have to pay INR 1,00,000 per semester as tuition fee. 

IIT Bombay MTech is offered in 39+ specialisations via GATE and COAP counselling. The IIT Bombay MDes course fees follow the same Group I/II division structure; the IITB MDes course admission is based on the CEED scores.

Group I MTech TA student receives a fellowship stipend of INR 12,400 per month till research proposal presentation or end of 4th semester. Over 2 years (24 months), students earn about INR 2,97,600 in total. This stipend gives students a higher return than the total Group I MTech fees of INR 1,13,000.

IIT Bombay fees for 4 years BTech is INR 8,58,800 for Indian nationals (General/OBC/EWS category). The IIT Bombay cost for BTech covers 8 semesters of academic fees and the one-time admission charge — it excludes hostel and mess fees. The fees of IIT Bombay for B Tech CSE is INR 8,58,800; the fees for every IIT Bombay BTech specialisation carry the same tuition fees of INR 1,00,000 per semester. Whether you choose Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, the academic fees don't change. IIT Bombay admission to BTech happens through JEE Main, followed by JEE Advanced and JoSAA counselling.

For SC, ST, and PwD students have to pay INR 72,500, as the tuition fees is fully waived for the 4-year. That's a saving of INR 8 Lakhs over the course duration. IIT Bombay reserves the right to revise fees in subsequent semesters.

IIT Bombay fees is INR 15,15,500 for a 2-year programme. The course is offered at SJMSOM (Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management). IIT in Bombay MBA admission is based on CAT score, academics, work experience, and a Personal Interview. IITB MBA tuition fee is INR 2,00,000 per semester (INR 8,00,000 total). An additional 'Other Specified Fees' charge of INR 1,66,000 per semester covers library, teaching aids, computational facilities, and other SJMSOM services. IIT Bombay M Tech fees 2026 is INR 17,750 per semester and INR 1,13,000 total over 2 years for Group I students (sponsored students), and for Group II students (non-sponsored), the fees of IIT Bombay MTech cost INR 4,51,000 in total. IIT Bombay MSc fees are categorised into 2 groups. Students admitted to the IITB MSc course through the IIT JAM are typically eligible for the Group I (TA category) and pay INR 17,750 per semester in academic fees. IIT Bombay MSc is offered in 7 specialisations: Chemistry, Biotechnology, Applied Geology, Applied Geophysics, Mathematics, Physics, and Applied Statistics & Informatics. IIT Bombay also offers an MSc + PhD dual degree in Environmental Science & Engineering, Operations Research, and Energy Science & Engineering, with the same fee structure.

IIT Bombay Phd fees 2026 for self-funded students is INR 1,00,000 per year tuition plus per-semester charges. IIT Bombay PhD programme spans a minimum of 3 years across 20+ departments. Students admitted with GATE/UGC-NET fellowships (TA or RA category) pay minimal fees of INR 21,300 for the initial semester. The student also gets a fellowship amount for TA is INR 37,000/month (rising to RA of INR 47,000/month post-research proposal), with HRA applicable as per norms.

IIT Bombay has 18 hostels on the Powai campus, including separate hostels for women students. UG students typically get shared rooms; MTech students often get single rooms in newer hostels. Students with stays under 30 days in any semester pay a flat INR 3,500 hostel fee — full hostel fees apply for stays longer than 30 days. All hostel payments are made through the online portal at portal.iitb.ac.in/asc.

IIT Bombay hostel fees are charged every semester and are separate from academic fees. For UG students, the hostel fee is INR 16,900 per semester, and for PG students, it is INR 19,700. IITB hostel fees include hostel room charges, electricity and water, and the Hostel Amenities Fund. 

Besides the hostel fees, every student must pay a Semester Mess Advance (SMA) of INR 22,500 per semester, adjusted against actual mess consumption. A Mess Security Deposit of INR 5,000 is collected once at admission and is refundable.

IIT Bombay offers multiple scholarships and fee concession schemes to ensure financial barriers don't block deserving students.

• Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship: Open to UG students based on both academic merit and financial need. Recipients get a tuition fee waiver plus a monthly pocket allowance. Eligibility requires annual parental income below INR 4.5 Lakhs (as per current MHRD norms).
• Income-based Tuition Fee Remission: Students whose parental annual income is below INR 1 Lakh get full tuition waiver. Students with income between INR 1–5 Lakhs get two-thirds tuition remission — saving INR 66,667 per semester.
• Free Messing Facility: SC, ST, and PwD students with family income below INR 4.5 Lakhs per annum are eligible for free mess facilities — covering all standard meals on campus.
• IIT Bombay Heritage Fund Scholarship: Alumni-funded scholarship for students demonstrating financial need and academic performance. Multiple donor-funded named scholarships are also available through the Development and Alumni Relations (DARE) office.

IIT Bombay fee payment — both academic and hostel — is done entirely online through the ASC portal at portal.iitb.ac.in/asc. Here is the step-by-step process:

• Visit https://portal.iitb.ac.in/asc and log in using your roll number and password.
• Navigate to the fee payment section. Current semester dues are displayed on the dashboard.
• Select your payment method. Avoid UPI for amounts above INR 1 Lakh due to daily UPI limits — use Net Banking or Debit/Credit Card instead.
• Complete the transaction and ensure it goes through fully before closing the browser.
• If paying via bank loan or sponsoring agency, go to the 'Bank Loan/NEFT Fee Payment' tab to generate an Official Fee Demand — valid for 10 days. Initiate the bank transfer at least 15 days before the deadline.
• After payment, enter the UTR number on the portal to confirm the transaction.
• Fee receipts are generated 8–10 business days after payment. Collect from the Cash Section, 1st Floor, Nandan Nilekani Main Building, IIT Bombay.

IIT Bombay's fee refund policy applies differently depending on whether the withdrawal happens before or after the last date of semester fee payment. Based on the official IIT Bombay Academic Office directives, here is the detailed IITB fee refund policy. The policies vary slightly between Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate/Ph.D. (PG/Ph.D.) programs. The IIT Bombay application fee paid during the form submission phase is strictly non-refundable across all programs.
