IIT Bombay has achieved its largest-ever annual research and development (R&D) funding, securing Rs 700 crore in 2024. This is a significant increase from Rs 576 crore in 2023 and Rs 502 crore in 2022. The funding comes from both government agencies and private industries, with around 35% of the funds contributed by private sources.
IIT Bombay is focusing on projects that support India's goal of becoming more self-reliant in technology. One of the key projects is the Maharashtra Drone Mission, with Rs 151.8 crore funding from the state’s technical education department.
