The process for Calcutta University registration 2023 is pretty simple. Just visit the official website of the University of Calcutta and then tap the admission link. Create a new account by clicking on the ‘New Application’ button and fill out the required details. Create a password and submit. A mail on the registered email id will be sent with the credentials such as user name, password and OTP for login.

The University of Calcutta UG admission process varies from course to course. Admission to courses such as BBA is based on Calcutta University Entrance Examination (CUEE). The University of Calcutta offers direct admission to most of the UG and PG courses such as MA, M.Com, M.Sc, M.Lib. I.Sc, LLM, BA LLB, B.Lib.I.Sc (Integrated), B.Sc and BA LLB. The University of Calcutta conducts Research Entrance Test (RET) for admission to the PhD programme. RET (written) is conducted by the respective department and it carries 100 marks. There are 50 questions, each carrying 2 marks for correct answer and -1 for incorrect answer. The duration of this exam would be 1 hour. The department declares the result for the written part of RET via email and schedules the interview round for the shortlisted candidates. The final selection is based on the student’s performance in Interview. 

Students aspiring to get admission to the University of Calcutta B.Tech programme through the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) must appear for the test in the current academic year. In 2023, students are required to appear for the WBJEE 2023 and qualify for the cutoff. Selected students can register for the centralised WBJEE counselling and choose the University of Calcutta while registering. The students will be allotted admission based on the marks obtained in WBJEE and the availability of seats. 

Admission to the University of Calcutta B.Tech programme is based on WBJEE for the four-year programme and on JELET for lateral entry. The requirements for admission to CU B.Tech programmes are mentioned below. 

• The candidate must meet the minimum eligibility criteria for admission. 
• Candidate must score valid marks in WBJEE/JELET.

The university of Calcutta did not conduct any entrance examination for BA LLB in 2022. Hence, did not publish any syllabus required for the admission test. However, Calcutta University will soon publish the schedule and notification related to BA LLB admission for 2023. 

Students aspiring for the University of Calcutta MBA admission must have a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field. They should also have a valid score card of CAT/MAT/JEMAT/XMAT or relevant UGC-specified national-level entrance test. The university selects the students based on marks scored in qualifying examinations, entrance tests, group discussions and personal interviews.

The merit for the University of Calcutta MBA admission is calculated based on an overall score comprising the following:

A candidate must have at least 50% aggregate marks in Class 12 and pass marks in the related subject for admission to the Univerity of Calcutta B.Sc course. The candidate must fulfil the Calcutta University eligibility criteria to be able to apply for admission. Selection will be based on merit and availability of seats. 

The University of Calcutta offers various specialisations with the B.Sc programme such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Physiology, Geology, Molecular Biology, Micro-Biology, Computer Science, Electronics, and many others. Under the CBCS system, the students will have to choose a major and two elective subjects from the groups defined by the university.
