About Gurucharan College
Gurucharan College (popularly known as GC College) is a government college, located in Silchar in the state of Assam in India. The college was established on July 15, 1935. GC college is affiliated to Assam University (Central University) and accredited with “A” Grade by the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council).
Currently, around 4000 students are enrolled in the Gurucharan college courses in Arts, Science and Commerce streams. For the HS course, the curriculum and examination are conducted according to the rules and regulations of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC). The other three years of degree programmes, conducted under the new semester system, are taught as per the syllabus and exam rules framed by Assam University Silchar. Gurucharan College campus has a central computer lab, a magnificent auditorium, an enriched anthropological museum, a bioinformatics centre, a biotech hub, two hostels separately for boys and girls and a well-developed playground, NCC wings and so on. Gurucharan College is well-equipped with a library with a variety of books, journals and magazines and an INFLIBNET facility. The objective of GC college is “To strive, to seek, to find and not to yield”.

Gurucharan College Campus Facilities and Infrastructure
Gurucharan College campus is situated at a calm location. The campus has all the basic amenities for students and staff. Students become really attracted to the college infrastructure
- Central Library: The Library has a huge collection of journals, books, etc. The reading room has a capacity of 150 readers. The Library is divided into different sections like Text Books Section, Circulation Section, Reference Section, Newspaper section and others.
- Hostel: The College has two hostels for boys and girls. The hostels has the necessary facilities for boarders.
- Health Centre: The College has its own Health Centre under the charge of a doctor. There is an arrangement for first-aid facility. Also, it provides regular free health check-ups.
- Cafeteria: The college has a canteen facility for both staff and the students. It is meant for all students, teachers and non-teaching staff and offers a variety of veg and non-veg food items at affordable rates.
- Auditorium: The college has an auditorium where events and seminars are held., This vast and magnificent auditorium furnished with a stage is known as "Bhasha-Sahid Smriti Mancha". The Auditorium can accommodate 800 people.
