NCHMCT JEE 2019 Eligibility Criteria

  • To become eligible to apply for NCHMCT JEE 2019, applicants should have qualified 12th class or equivalent from a recognized board with English as a subject.

  • Appearing applicants in 12th standard are also eligible to apply for NCHMCT JEE 2019. However, they must submit their proof of qualifying the 12th class exam along with other eligibility conditions afterwards.

  • Applicants applying for NCHMCT JEE 2019 must have passed in English subject.

  • The upper age limit for General and Other Backward Classes (OBC) applicants is 22 years as on July 1, 2019. Applicants born on or after July 1, 1997 are eligible to apply.

  • The upper age limit for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) is 25 years as on July 1, 2019. SC/ST applicants born on or after July 1, 1994 are eligible to apply.

  • The upper age limit for Physically Challenged applicants shall be same as per the category he/she belongs to, i.e., General/SC/ST/OBC.

In the Reasoning and Logical Deduction, Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude, General Knowledge and Current Affairs and English Language section, candidates will be awarded one mark for each correct response, and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect response. However, candidates must note that marking scheme for Service Sector Aptitude section of the NCHMCT JEE question paper will be different from other sections.

NCHMCT JEE 2018 Exam Analysis

Over 35,000 students appeared for NCHMCT JEE 2018, which was conducted on April 28, 2018. The three-hour long was conducted from 10 am to 1 pm across 33 test centres in India. National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology Joint Entrance Examination (NCHMCT JEE) is a national level hotel management entrance exam, which is held to shortlist candidates for admission in some of the best hotel management institutes in the country.

As per the NCHMCT JEE paper pattern, students are required to attempt 200 questions, which are divided among various sections of the exam. The different subjects are Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude, Reasoning and Logical Deduction, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, English Language as well as Aptitude for Service Sector.

A total of 8,738 seats are up for grabs this year, and students will get admission in any of the NCHMCT JEE 2018 particpating colleges basis their performance in the entrance exam.

Most of the students said that their exam went well and the paper was quite similar to previous years’ question papers. However, some of the questions were a bit tricky in this year's NCHMCT JEE question paper.

Detailed Analysis of NCHMCT JEE 2018

Students found all the sections to be moderate in terms of the difficulty level. However, most of them found the paper a bit lengthy as well. Some of them expressed that they struggled to attempt all the questions within the given time duration of 3 hours. 

While some candidates found the Numerical Ability section a bit on the difficult side, some found the to be quite easy. Logcial Reasoning section had a moderate difficulty level. English section also seemed easy and the section on Aptitude for Service Sector was also found to be quite simple to answer. 

The marking scheme followed in the paper was exactly similar to the one provided in the National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) admission brochure.

NCHMCT JEE 2016 Exam Analysis

The National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), an autonomous body under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, conducted NCHMCT JEE 2016 on April 30, 2016, from 10 am to 1 pm in 33 cities across the country. The entrance test was reported to be an of easy level of difficulty.

Around 20,000 candidates appeared in the entrance exam for admission to 52 institutes of hotel management (IHMs), including 21 Central, 16 State Government and 15 private institutes. The total number of seats was around 7,500 for 3-year B.Sc. programme in Hospitality and Hotel Administration. The question paper had 200 marks comprising of 200 questions and was set in English and Hindi (except for the questions of English Language Section). Each question had 4 options. In all the sections, except the Service Aptitude Section, each correct answer was to be awarded 1 mark while 0.25 mark was to be deducted for each incorrect answer. The 'Aptitude for Service Sector' section had different marking scheme. The marking scheme of this section was as below:

1 mark is awarded for the most appropriate answer, 0.75 for the next best answer, 0.50 for the next best choice and a negative of 0.25 for the least appropriate one.

This section mostly was a mix of Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension questions. In Vocabulary, there were questions on Synonyms, Antonyms, One Word Substitution, Idioms, and Spelling. There were multiple Reading Comprehension passages. Some passages were followed by 5 questions while some were followed by 2 or 3 questions. These passages were based on diverse topics and questions were direct. The overall difficulty level of this section was easy.

Reasoning and Logical Deduction

This was a more or less easy section and had 30 questions. A student could do around 20 - 22 questions in 30 to 35 minutes. This section comprises questions on Series, Coding - Decoding, Blood Relation, Syllogisms, Visual Reasoning, etc which could be solved by applying basic logic.

Numerical Ability

This was an easy section that had 30 questions in total. The questions in Numerical Ability section were from varied topics like Ratio, Percentage, Simple and Compound Interest, Probability, Time, Speed and Distance and Time and Work.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs

Questions from Current Affairs and General Science dominated this section. The questions on Science were easy and required basic understanding of the class IX & X level of science subjects. The overall level of difficulty of this section was easy. The remaining questions were mostly from current affairs and there weren't many questions from static G.K. The areas from which the questions were asked included hospitality industry, personality, awards, sports, science & technology, etc. An attempt of around 22-24 questions is good. The level of difficulty of this section was easy.

Aptitude for Service Sector

This section had 50 questions in total, which were easy in nature and required common sense to answer. The questions were related to real life situations, particularly those of service sector. The questions tested the personality traits, decision-making ability, ability to react etc of the students. Since the situations were not very difficult or uncommon, each question could have been attempted with a little bit of thought.

NCHMCT JEE 2019 Result

The marking scheme of NCHMCT JEE 2019 is as follows:

  • Under Numerical Ability & Analytical Aptitude, Reasoning & Logical Deduction, General Knowledge & Current Affairs and English Language components, for every correct response, one mark is awarded.

  • 0.25 mark is deducted for every wrong response.

NCHMCT JEE 2019 Conducting Body

National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) is the conducting authority of NCHMCT JEE. Every year, NCHMCT organises a national-level exam for admission to various Hotel Management institutes that come under the Council and it is situated in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. NCHMCT is an autonomous body that comes under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The professional courses offered at the affiliated 21 central institutes of hotel management, 19 State Government Institutes of Hotel Management, 01 Public Sector Undertaking and 14 Private Institutes of Hotel Management are regulated by the Council. All the participating institutes that are affiliated with the Council follow a standardised course curricula prescribed by the Council for different professional programmes. Additionally, students of these participating institutes are provided training and quality of education.
