With each counselling round of CLAT, the Consortium of NLUs will announce the round-wise CLAT cutoff for the 22 participating NLUs for the UG courses and 21 NLUs for the PG courses separately. For UG and PG courses, the CLAT 2024 cutoff will be released separately for different NLUs and different categories (Open, PwD, SC, ST, OBC). Those scoring below the cutoff often do not receive admission to their top-choice law schools because the CLAT cutoff is the minimum score/ rank at which an applicant is awarded admission. The CLAT cut off is impacted each year by variables such as the exam's level of difficulty, changes in the seat intake and matrix, answer key anomalies, and the overall number of students shortlisted. There are a total of 3241 UG seats and 1248 PG seats available at the 22 NLUs that will take part in CLAT counselling.
For the 5-year integrated LLB and 2-year LLM programmes, the CLAT cutoff 2022 and 2021 are category-specific. The ideal cutoff falls between 95 and 110 if you go under the general category, and 80 to 90 if you fall under the SC/ ST category. However, it may differ based on elements such as the number of candidates that showed up for the exam, the level of difficulty of the paper, category, etc. You can compute your scores using the answer key and compare them to the cut-off scores before the consortium releases them. Candidates can review the category-wise and institute-wise cutoff scores for CLAT 2022 and CLAT 2021 in this article along with additional information.
Differences Between CLAT 2022 and CLAT 2021
The Common Law Admission Test 2022 was administered across the nation in around 131 cities by the Consortium of NLUs. Examination takers assessed CLAT 2022 as moderate to tough. Factors Affecting CLAT Cutoff
Candidates need to be aware that the CLAT cut-offs change every year based on a variety of factors. These include:- National law colleges' available seats (At the moment, all NLUs provide a total intake of roughly 1,000 seats for CLAT LLM and 3,000 seats for CLAT UG)
- Depending on the university, home reservations may be permitted for up to 25% of the available seats.
- The NLU cut-off for admission to these universities is often higher due to the popularity of the top 5 NLUs, which are typically selected by top candidates.
- The applicant's CLAT results include positions held and scores earned. A good CLAT score for the top 3 NLUs will fall between 110 and 115.
- About 60,000 candidates have appeared for the CLAT exam for the LLB programme and around 10,000 applications are for CLAT LLM. Because of the greater competition, the number of candidates who prefer a particular NLU will result in a higher cut-off range and it will be harder for them to secure a seat there.
- The CLAT cutoff is influenced by the volume of applications received as well. The competition will be more difficult if there are more applicants, and it will often be easier if there are fewer applicants that year.
- The CLAT cutoff is also impacted by exam difficulty. There are significant odds of gaining a seat in the desired NLU if the CLAT exam level is challenging in a certain year.
Importance of CLAT Cutoff
Most students would be unsure if they will get the selected NLU with their existing score after passing the CLAT exam. To determine the answer, they should look at the CLAT cutoffs from the prior year. The cut-offs are significant since they determine the least need for admission to a specific NLU. If applicants don't score higher than the cutoffs, they won't be taken into consideration for admission to a certain NLU. However, based on their CLAT results, they may be accepted into any other NLU. The CLAT cutoffs are a significant deciding factor that can provide candidates with a realistic estimate of their prospects of being accepted into a certain NLU and/ or other NLUs based on their CLAT examination results.CLAT Cutoff 2022 vs 2021
