Do or Die Chapters for COMEDK UGET 2026 Physics

Physics in the COMEDK UGET exam plays a pivotal role in determining a candidate’s overall rank—often acting as a differentiator between high scorers and the rest. Unlike Mathematics or Chemistry, Physics demands both conceptual clarity and application-oriented problem solving. Over the years, the examination pattern of Physics in COMEDK has remained consistent in terms of syllabus coverage, drawing predominantly from classical mechanics, electromagnetism, modern physics, thermodynamics, and optics. from COMEDK UGET 2022 to 2025, the overall difficulty level of the Physics section can be described as moderate to slightly challenging. Questions were mostly straightforward concept checks mixed with a fair number of application-based problems. Mechanics—especially kinematics, laws of motion, work-energy and rotational dynamics—consistently appeared with multiple questions. Electrostatics and Current Electricity also remained core scoring areas, often contributing significantly to the total marks. Topics like Waves and Oscillations, Thermodynamics, and Optics and Modern Physics regularly featured 1–2 questions each, testing both fundamentals and analytical skills.

For COMEDK UGET 2026 exam , while the official syllabus remains unchanged, the anticipated difficulty is a continuation of the moderate level, with the potential for slightly tougher application-based questions in sections like Magnetic Effects of Current, Alternating Currents, and Wave Optics. High-yield topics for consistent preparation include Kinematics, Newtonian Mechanics, Work–Energy–Power, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetism, Modern Physics (Photoelectric effect, Atomic Models), and Optics (Interference, Diffraction, Lens & Mirrors).

Study Tips for COMEDK Physics Most Important Chapters 2026

As discussed above, the section of Physics of COMEDK UGET plays a huge role in qualifying the exam. Therefore, preparing for the same must be done with a good strategy. The points below detail the strategic study tips for COMEDK Physics do or die chapters that have been curated by the exam experts:-

  • Visualise concepts and relate to real-life examples: For each topic, try and visualize each concept in real-life examples. For instance, imagine how an object moves (Mechanics), behaviour of light (Optics), or the working of an optic (Electromagnetism). This will help you majorly in understanding the concept of the topics in depth and applying them to the relevant problems.

  • Hands-on practice and experimentation: Engage in hands-on activities like simple home experiments, such as using mirrors for optics or building circuits for electromagnetism, to reinforce concepts. Use online simulations (like PhET or Tinkercad) for interactive learning, particularly for circuits and mechanics. Additionally, practice mental exercises and thought experiments, especially for Modern Physics, to visualize and simulate problems, enhancing your conceptual clarity.

  • Practice on a consistent basis: Practice problems from various sources and difficulty levels to strengthen your understanding and boost confidence. Simulate exam conditions by solving problems within a set time limit, helping you improve speed, efficiency, and time management for the actual test.

  • Break complex ideas into smaller and manageable scenarios: Break down complex problems into smaller, manageable parts to make them easier to understand. For topics like Thermodynamics, think of energy changes step-by-step rather than all at once. Use scaled mental models to visualize how small or large changes affect systems, whether at the atomic or cosmic level, especially in complex subjects like quantum physics and thermodynamics.

  • Break your study schedule into small focussed sessions: While studying, don’t sit for longer durations and use the Pomodoro technique instead. The Pomodoro technique includes studying for 50 minutes taking a break for 15 minutes and then reverting to studying.

Difficulty Level Analysis of Physics in COMEDK from 2022 to 2025

After speaking to Suresh Meher an aspirant of COMEDK 2026 exam from Mangalore we gained a detailed insight of the difficulty trends over the last 2 3 years. We have mentioned it in detail.

COMEDK 2022

The paper from 2022 was moderate with a clear mix of core mechanics, electricity, and basic concepts like thermodynamics and oscillations. Questions were mostly direct application-based from standard syllabus topics, making them predictable and friendly if you solved PYQs. Topics like Heat & Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, and Motion were commonly asked. Even though official detailed difficulty reports are limited for this year, the trend showed that concept clarity was more important than speed.

COMEDK 2023

Overall physics remained easy to moderate but slightly more concept–driven than the previous year. Students reported that formula-based physics questions were strong in number, and the exam demanded accurate conceptual application rather than lengthy calculation. Difficult questions were fewer, and most were direct or required a single step of reasoning.

COMEDK 2024

Many students felt physics in 2024 was moderate to tough. In some shifts, especially shift-1, physics leaned more on theory and application questions than simple numericals. Topics such as Electrostatics, Magnetism & Electromagnetic Induction, Optics, and Dual Nature of Matter were seen. Some questions were time-consuming because they combined multiple concepts in one MCQ.

COMEDK 2025

Physics difficulty in 2025 was moderate overall, though some student feedback indicated that in specific shifts it felt moderate-to-tough (especially lengthy or multi-step numerical questions). More conceptual application problems appeared compared to earlier years, meaning rapid problem recognition and clear concept mastery were essential.

Topic-Wise Trends & Repetitions

Check the below table.

Mechanics (Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work & Energy) Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetism Heat & Thermodynamics Optics (Ray + Wave) Modern Physics & Electronics Oscillations & Waves, Gravitation
  • Consistently asked every year with ~8–10 questions.
  • Questions ranged from direct application (like projectile motion) to mixed concept, testing both kinematics and energy ideas together.
  • Main idea: Strong fundamentals here are essential — mechanics is the backbone of COMEDK physics.
  • These units contributed a significant chunk of questions in all years.
  • Classic electrostatics problems, resistive circuits, Kirchhoff’s laws, magnetic force on current/charge, and basic applications were frequent.
  • Electromagnetic Induction & Alternating Current also appeared reliably.
  • These topics form the backbone of Electrodynamics in COMEDK and often include numerical + concept combos
  • Seen every year with a few questions (~2–4).
  • Often multi-step — combining laws of thermodynamics with processes or engine cycle questions.
  • Often easy-to-moderate, but problem solving needs strong basics and formula recall.
  • Repeated moderately every year (~3–5 questions).
  • Ray optics questions were mostly direct and formula-driven; wave optics sometimes had conceptual understanding + calculation.
  • Not very heavy but important and scoring if prepared well.
  • Questions on atomic models, photoelectric effect, nuclei, semiconductors, diodes, transistors and simple logic gates appeared repeatedly.
  • Mostly straightforward conceptual or formula-based questions, making this a high-scoring area.
  • Often easier than heavy numerical chapters — great for securing easy marks.
  • Appeared every year but with lower weightage than classics like Mechanics or Electricity.
  • Some questions were conceptual, others involved short calculations.
  • Good for filling marks after major topics are done.

At Lovely Professional University, students seeking admission through WBJEE counselling for B.Tech programs need to pay the admission and tuition fees as per the university’s fee structure, which usually ranges around ₹3–4 lakh per year depending on the branch and scholarships. The exact amount is confirmed during counselling. Students must complete fee payment after seat allotment to secure admission, along with submitting required documents and confirming their participation in the counselling process.
