I have scored 45% in my 12th grade. Am I eligible for B.Tech admission at LPU?

- AmritaUpdated On May 06, 2026 02:58 PM

With 45% in 12th, direct B.Tech eligibility at LPU may be limited since most programs expect higher marks, especially in PCM. Still, options like diploma or foundation pathways can help build eligibility. The advantage is a flexible curriculum and industry exposure later, but it may take an extra step before entering core engineering.

For B.Tech admission at LPU, the usual eligibility is around 60% in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, so with 45%, you may not meet the standard requirement. However, you still have options. You can consider improving your 12th score by reappearing, which can help you become eligible later. You can also explore other related courses at LPU where the criteria may be more flexible. It’s a good idea to check directly with the university for the latest admission guidelines.

For admission to the B.Tech program at LPU, the general eligibility requirement is a minimum of 60% marks in 12th grade with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. A score of 45% does not meet the standard criteria. However, LPU may provide relaxation for certain categories or offer alternative pathways. One option is to pursue a diploma program and later apply for lateral entry into B.Tech. It is advisable to connect directly with LPU admission counselors, as they are supportive and provide proper guidance throughout the process.

Yes, with 45% in 12th grade, you are still eligible to apply for B.Tech admission at LPU, as the university typically requires a minimum of 45–50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Meeting this eligibility allows you to apply for most engineering branches, though some high-demand specializations may have higher cutoffs for scholarships. You can apply online through the LPU admission portal by filling the application form, uploading your 12th mark sheet, and paying the application fee. Admission may also involve appearing for LPU NEST if you wish to be considered for scholarships, but it is not mandatory for basic eligibility.

With **45% in 12th grade**, you are **not eligible for regular B.Tech admission at Lovely Professional University**, because LPU requires a **minimum of 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology** for B.Tech eligibility. This minimum does not change based on LPUNEST or other entrance exams, so 45% falls below the required cutoff. You might explore **diploma programmes**, **certificate courses**, or **LPU’s distance/online options**, but for the full-time on-campus B.Tech programme, you must meet the minimum eligibility, which you currently do not. LPU remains a better choice when eligibility criteria are met.

Standard B.Tech admission at LPU requires a 60% aggregate in 10+2 (PCM), meaning 45% falls short of the eligibility criteria. To secure a seat, you could consider appearing for improvement exams, opting for a diploma to gain lateral entry later, or checking for specific category-based relaxations that might apply.

At Lovely Professional University, B.Tech eligibility generally requires around 60% aggregate in 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics, and one additional subject (relaxation may apply for certain categories), so with 45% you typically do not meet the standard criteria for direct B.Tech admission; however, you can explore improvement exams to increase your percentage, consider diploma routes leading to lateral entry later, or check if any specific relaxation policy applies in your case.

LPU requires a minimum 60% aggregate in 12th grade with Physics, Mathematics, and English for B.Tech eligibility, as per updated 2026 criteria. A 45% score falls short of this standard, making direct admission unlikely without meeting that threshold first. Certain categories like North-East states or defense dependents get 5% relaxation, potentially opening options worth checking via official channels. LPU stands out for flexible pathways through LPUNEST, scholarships, and merit support, favoring strong preparation over rigid cutoffs. Contact admissions promptly for personalized guidance and explore bridging courses if needed. Overall, focus remains on aligning with core requirements for a solid start.
