Learning is a continuous process, and we need not learn from books all the time. Sometimes we may learn from our experiences, teachers, parents and friends. However, in the current scenario, some of the movies are also playing an important role in enlightening us. There are various movies which focus on different streams of education. Stand and Deliver

The movie was released in the year 1998. It is the true story of a high school mathematics teacher Jaime Escalante who works in James A Garfield High School. Most of the students in the school are Spanish speaking of Mexican origin from working class families. These students are low in academic standards and neither have interest nor desire to learn. These students also face various social problems. Escalante motivates the students under the philosophy of ‘ganas’ roughly translating into ‘desire’ or ‘motivation’.

Learnings:-

One needs to learn motivation, interest, and creativity from the movie. The teacher uses his creativity and cultivates passion and interest among the students. Evey management student must possess these qualities like desire, motivation, passion and creativity to excel in the career.

Terminal

The movie was released I the year 2006. The movie is a “what happens to me” genre. The movie makes us think “what will happen to me if I were to lose my nationality and identity.” The story is about Tom Hanks who becomes trapped in New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport terminal and can’t return to his native country due to the military coup. He even does not know the English language. The entire movie depicts the way the how he survives in the terminal for 18 years.

Learnings:-

The movie gives a clear idea on how to survive in difficult times and how to face a difficult situation bravely.

Cast Away

Cast Away is a survival drama which was released in the year 2000. The film depicts the life of a FedEx employee stranded on an uninhabited island after his plane crashes in South Pacific. Throughout the movie, he makes various attempts to survive on the island using the remains of plane’s cargo.

Learnings:-

The movie makes the audience understand what is needed to survive is the ultimate torture that a person can face.

The Pursuit of Happiness

The movie deals about a salesperson whose who makes to make the both ends meet with his income. His wife leaves him and spends restless nights as he was not satisfied with his job. Finally, he proves his talents and become a broker where his life take turns.

Learnings:-

Through this film, we can learn to overcome all the difficulties to achieve success. It is an inspirational movie for all students.

The Exam

The Exam is a psychological thriller which was released in the year 2009. It has an interesting story where eight candidates attend for an employment assessment examination. The enter into a room and each candidate sit down at individual desks which have their name. The are provided with answer booklets which have the candidate’s name and numbers from one to eight.

The representative of the company explains the procedure of examination, and there is only one question in the exam. He explains the rules that no candidate is allowed to talk to the Invigilator or talk with armed guards at the door, and they should not write anything on the booklet or spoil it. If they do, they will be disqualified. Throughout the movie, the candidates try to find the answer and adopt various means and fail.

Finally, one candidate survives and wins the race. Throughout the process of interview, the reasoning ability and personal attitude of the candidate is being tested, and the one who qualifies in the interview proves required skills for the job.

Learnings:-

This movie will improve the logical approach among the management students. It gives a clear idea on how to success in an interview. The film was also remade in Telugu with the title ‘Key’.
