IPMAT 2023 WAT and PI Preparation Tips

WAT and PI are both very important stages in the IPMAT 2023 Selection Process and hence proper preparation must be done for the same. Here are some of the best preparation tips for IPMAT 2023 WAT and PI that the students should keep in mind.

Work on Your General Awareness

Keeping updated with the current affairs and topics trending in the news is very beneficial for the WAT and PI stage. Aspirants should take a special interest in topics related to national and international importance. It would be advisable to maintain notes related to these topics and brush up on your general knowledge. It also helps to be a good reader and have varied interests for this stage.

Practise by Speaking and Writing

The WAT and PI stage test the soft skills of the candidate, including their ability to express themselves clearly either through speech or in writing. Students should practise both of these skills in their spare time to be well-prepared for this stage in the process. Pick any topic you like and write a short essay on it each day. The next day, go through that essay and try to find the mistakes and how you can make it better. Or show it to your teacher or a peer for feedback. Remember, working on these skills take time.

Work on Your Analytical & Critical Thinking Skills

Forming your own thoughts and having your opinions about any topic is important. Writing about a topic or facing an interviewer becomes much easier when you have clear reasoning behind your answers. When taking down notes about any event, make sure to include your opinions and thoughts about it as well. It is also a good idea to introspect about your choices and decisions since questions may be asked based on why you took certain decisions.

  • Developing good writing skills takers time. It is important to practice each day.

  • When writing, make sure you are using right grammar. Use tools such as Grammarly to help you spot the mistakes.

  • It is recommended by experts to be precise and to-the-point when attempting a WAT.

  • A good strategy is to first spend some time planning out your essay in points and then elaborate those poins further.

  • When providing a statement in the essay, explain your reasoning behind the same.

  • Your essay should have a logical flow and clarity of thoughts. Focus on keeping it simple but thought-provoking instead of showing off your vocabulary.

  • Include data and facts, if available.

  • Make sure you have a good conclusion to your essay.

IPMAT 2023 WAT Topics

IPMAT 2023 topics are not very typical. Generally, topics are formed from discussions that we usually have from day-to-day and they do not require specialised knowledge about any field. WAT topics in IPMAT 2023 may be related to various issues faced by the citizens or based on social issues and topics. Even if a student feels like they don't have the complete data about any topic, they can write a general essay on the topic but their reasoning should be solid.

IPMAT 2023 PI Preparation Tips

Here are some of the best tips to appear for the Personal Interview in IPMAT 2023.

  • Practice speaking clearly and in a voice that is audible but not loud enough to seem like you are shouting.
  • Grooming is very important. Make sure you have a clean haircut and are wearing a clean formal set of clothes on your interview.

  • It is up to you whether you want to take coaching for the interview. Some institutes conduct mock interviews that can be a good confidence-boosting experience for the candidate.

  • You can take a look at some of the most common questions asked and practice answering them. You can also prepare notes for some of the answers beforehand. However, it is not recommended to memorize pre-written answers as that will sound mechanical.

  • When appearing for the interview, stay calm and confident. The interviewer will also help you get comfortable before the process begins by asking some simple or personal questions.

  • Most of the candidates who appeared for the interview suggest to read the newspaper daily and to brush up basic concepts from your textbooks for the interview.

IPMAT 2023 PI Questions

Interviewers mostly ask questions related to the student's academic history, academic concepts or general knowledge during the interview. There is no single set of questions that may be asked. The interviewer may ask you anything that comes to their mind. They may also ask follow up questions on any point in your answer. The academic-related questions are also mostly based on basic concepts that we see and observe in our surroundings. However, the interviewer may also ask you to go into details. GK question may be related to famous personalities or trending news etc.
