Legal Reasoning:

In this, you will find a legal principle along with a situation. The smartest thing to do here is to analyse the facts and apply them before even going through the options.

  • Law doesn't give you the scope of assuming anything. Hence, DON'T.
  • The principle has never been wrong. So, go BY it.
  • You might get more than one correct answer. Answer the one that you think is the closest to your pre-decided answer.

Legal Facts:

To excel in questions based on facts or legal general knowledge, you must have a clear knowledge of the Indian legal structure. The primary emphasis in this should be on topics like the Preamble of India, FD and FR, General theory of Law of Torts, Contracts and Criminal Law, Constitution and Polity, Supreme Court of India, Ministry of Law and Justice, High Court of Delhi, the hierarchy of Indian judiciary, Bar Council of India, Government of India, Torts, amendments, recommendations, landmark judgments, law commission appointments.

Preparation Tips for Legal Aptitude Section of AILET 2020

Here are some AILET 2020 preparation tips for the section of legal aptitude that students can take help from in order to do well in the section.

Start with a Preparation Plan

Are you one of those who is preparing without really having a plan? Before even carving out a plan, make sure you know where you are at. If you can’t identify where you are lagging or in which section you would need to put in the most effort, then you are certainly doing it wrong. Do not copy someone else’s plan. Make yours on your own.

Be Thorough with the Basics

Have clear concepts of the most important law topics in your head. Remember, to ace this section, you must be thorough with basics. Especially while you are preparing for the Legal Aptitude section, memorizing the laws and the concepts can be a little tricky. So, it is always recommended to first get an idea of the most basic legal ideas.

Make Notes

Be it any section or any exam, making notes YOURSELF always helps. Do it your way. Take pens of different colours of ink and underline or fold the most important pages. Jot down the points because writing by hand improves your memory and we always tend to remember what we write. Your notes should not have more than 2-3 oneliners because short and crisp notes make revisions easier.

Manage your Time Properly

For you to not waste time on the questions, you must ensure that you have a good legal vocabulary. The terms must not confuse you. You must not waste your time on understanding the facts and the principles and rather invest it in getting the correct answer.

Do not spend more than 30-60 seconds on any question in the AILET 2020 Legal Aptitude section.

Stay Updated

Always stay updated about the latest ongoings in the country and across the world. While doing so, don't rely on sources that are not credible. The best news sources include Indian Express, The Hindu or the legal magazines available in the market.

Practice Mock-Test Papers

Unlike CLAT 2020 Exam Pattern, since the AILET 2020 remains unchanged, practising previous year question papers would pay off on the exam day. You would definitely find questions on similar lines.

Along with the previous year question papers, practise mock-tests online. They would give you an idea of the exam environment, tell you how much time you would need to eventually complete the section and most importantly, these mock-tests will put you in a position to analyse your preparation level.
Remember to not start with the mock tests before preparing enough for the entrance exam. It will not help you in any way and instead lead to demotivation.
