TNTET Exam Date, Notification, Eligibility

Tamil Nadu Teachers’ Recruitment Board (TRB Tamil Nadu) will release the official notification for TNTET (Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test) 2021 . TNTET 2021 score or qualification is mandatory for the candidates aspiring to teach Class I - V and Class VI-VII in government and private schools across Tamil Nadu. The exam is just an eligibility test, and it does not guarantee an appointment. However, candidates qualifying the TNTET exam shall be considered eligible for the Teacher Recruitment Test conducted by TRB. All the details about TNTET 2021 exam can be checked on this page.

TNTET 2021 Exam Date

TNTET 2021 exam date is yet to be confirmed. The exam was not conducted in 2020 due to the Covid-19 outbreak. TRB Tamil Nadu will soon initiate the process of conducting TNTET. Once the exam date is confirmed, the online registration process will be commenced.

TNTET 2021 Eligibility Criteria

The exam is divided into Paper 1 and Paper 2. While the Paper 1 exam of TNTET is for Primary Teachers (Class 1 to V), the Paper 2 exam is for candidates aspiring to teach Class VI to VIII. However, not all the candidates are eligible for both papers. The specific eligibility criteria for TNTET 2021 Paper 1 and Paper 2 can be checked below.

Minimum Qualification Required for TNTET Paper 1

The candidates who have passed Class 12 th with 50% of marks and have passed D.Ed course (Diploma in Elementary Education)

OR

The candidates who have passed Class 12 th with a minimum of 45% of marks and appearing or passed D.Ed course can also appear for the exam.

Candidates who have passed Class 12 th with 50% and four-year Bachelor’s in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed)

OR

Candidates who have passed Class 12 th with a minimum of 50% of marks and two-year D.Ed course in Special Education.

Candidates who have passed Bachelor’s degree and D.Ed course are also eligible.

OR

Candidates who have passed Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks and passed B.Ed course can also apply for the TNTET exam.

Note: Candidates who are pursuing final-year D.Ed/ B.EI.Ed/ B.Ed course are eligible to register for TNTET 2021. Candidates who have passed D.Ed from states other than Tamil Nadu must submit an evaluation certificate.

Minimum Qualification Required for TNTET Paper 2

Candidates who have passed Bachelor’s degree and two-year D.Ed course.

Candidates who have passed Bachelor’s degree with 50% of marks and passed B.Ed.

Candidates with 45% of marks in Graduation and passed B.Ed can also apply.

(OR)

Candidates who have passed Class 12 th with 50% of marks and passed four-year B.EI.Ed course can also apply.

Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Education (Class 12 th ) and four-year integrated B.Ed courses such as B.A B.Ed and B.Sc. B.Ed

(OR)

Candidates who have passed Graduation and B.Ed in Special Education can also apply.

Note: Apart from the eligibility norms for Paper 2 mentioned above, candidates who are pursuing final-year D.Ed/ B.Ed/ B.EI.Ed/ Integrated B.Ed are also eligible for the Paper 2 exam of TNTET 2020.
