TS ICET 2025 Mensuration Sample Questions

To help candidates prepare for the test, we have included a range of sample questions that reflect the degree of difficulty and types of problems commonly seen in the Mensuration portion of the TS ICET 2025. The practice questions focus not only on everyday analyses of area, volume, surface area, and perimeter of standard geometric shapes -- rectangles, circles, spheres, cones, cylinders, and prisms -- but also on how to employ formulas to help students understand basic geometry and enhance problem-solving skills. Each question includes a complete solution. Make sure to practice these questions fully to help with speed and accuracy during the test!

Question 1: The ratio of length and breadth of a rectangle is 5:3. The Diameter of the circle is 7/5 of the length of a rectangle. The circumference of the circle is 24 m more than the perimeter of the rectangle. What is the area of a rectangle?

a) 340

b) 280

c) 216

d) 240

e) 220

Answer: d) 240

Explanation: Let length = 5x Breadth = 3x Diameter of circle = (7/5) × 5x = 7x Radius = 7x/2 Circumference = 2πr = 2 × (22/7) × (7x/2) = 22x Perimeter of rectangle = 2(5x + 3x) = 16x

Given : 22x =16x + 24 ⇒ 6x = 24 ⇒ x = 4

Length = 20 Breadth = 12 Area = 20 × 12 = 240m^2

Question 2: What is the radius of a sphere that has a volume of 38808 cm3? (Use π = 22/7)

a) 21 cm

b) 27 cm

c) 24 cm

d) 18 cm

e) 9

Answer : 21 cm

Explanation: volume of a sphere, (V) = 38808 cm3

Formula used: volume of a sphere,

V = (4/3)πr3 where, r = radius

Calculation step: 38808 = (4/3) × (22/7) × r3 ⇒ 38808 = (88/21) × r3 ⇒ r3 = 38808 × (21/88) ⇒ r3 = 9261    ⇒ r = 21 cm

Hence, the answer to the above question is option 1

Question 3: If the perimeter of the circle equals 66m, which is 3/4th of actual perimeter of the circle. What is the area of the circle.

a) 616 m2

b) 512 m2

c) 343 m2

d) 589 m2

e) 215 m2

Answer: 616 m2

Explanation: The perimeter (circumference) of the circle is 66 m, which is 3/4th of the actual perimeter of the circle.

Formula used: Perimeter (Circumference) of circle = 2πr. Let the actual perimeter of the circle be C.

We have: 3C/4 = 66.

Solving the equation for C,

lets multiply both sides by 4/3: C = 66 x 4/3 = 88 m Now using the actual given perimeter C = 2πr,

let's find the radius: 88 = 2 x 22/7 x r r = (88 × 7)(2×22) = 616/44= 14 m

Now using the concept of area of a circle A = πr^2: A = 22/7 × 14^2 A = 22/7 × 196 = 4312/7 = 616 m2

Area of the circle = 616 m².

Question 4: In measuring the sides of a rectangle, one side is taken as 10% in excess, and the other is taken as 8% in deficit. Hence error percent in the area found by these measurements is:

a) 1.4%

b) 1.0%

c) 1.2%

d) None of these

Answer: 1.2%

Explanation: In measuring the sides of a rectangle, one side is taken as 10% in excess, and the other side is taken as 8% in deficit.

Formula: Error Percent in Area =

(Percentage Error in Length + Percentage Error in Width + Percentage Error in Length x Percentage Error in Width )

Let the actual length L, and the actual width W. Measured Length = L + 0.10L = 1.1L Measured Width = W - 0.08W = 0.92W Error in Length = 10% Error in Width = -8% Percentage Error in Area = 10% + (-8%) + (0.10)(-0.08) =

Percentage Error in Area = 10 - 8 = (0.10)(-0.08) =

Percentage Error in Area = 2 - 0.8% =

Percentage Error in Area = 1.2%

Final Answer: option (3)

Question 5: The length and width of a rectangle measure 25 cm and 15 cm respectively. What is the area of the rectangle?

A) 360 cm²

B) 375 cm²

B) 140.8 cm³

C) 160.2 cm³

D) 150.72 cm³

Answer: D) 150.72 cm³

Explanation: Volume = (1/3)πr²h = (1/3) × (22/7) × 4² × 9 = ~150.72 cm³

Question 7. The diameter of a sphere is 14 cm. Calculate the surface area.

A) 616 cm²

B) 624 cm²

C) 628 cm²

D) 636 cm²

A) 310 cm²

B) 314 cm²

C) 312 cm²

D) 316 cm²

Answer: B) 314 cm²

Explanation: Lateral surface area = 2πrh = 2 × (22/7) × 5 × 10 = 314 cm²

A) 600 cm³

B) 620 cm³

C) 580 cm³

D) 590 cm³

Answer: A) 600 cm³
