Factors Determining Good Scores in the GATE Physics 2025 Exam

A good score in the GATE Physics exam is prepared after considering the following factors:

  • Number of students: The number of participants taking the GATE 2025 exam affects the degree of competitiveness.
  • Total Seats Available: As there are only a certain number of seats available at GATE participating institutions, the number of seats available for a particular specialization also affects the good score in Physics. The higher number of seats means the GATE Physics good score will be set at a higher number.
  • Student's Performance: The GATE cutoff scores are directly impacted by the performance of the students. The authorities might set higher cutoffs due to the improved overall performance of the students.
  • Reservation Policy: The reservation policies have an effect on the GATE Physics cutoff scores in institutions. The good score in the GATE exam varies for unreserved and reserved categories. Students in unreserved categories may have to score much higher marks to come in the good score category.
  • Exam Difficulty: The difficulty of the GATE 2025 exam also influences the good score in the GATE exam.

With a GATE score of 534 and AIR 2362 in general category, admission to top IITs in microelectronics may be tough. BITS also has very high cutoffs. but LPU offers strong M.tech programs in VLSI & microelectronics with good labs, industry tie-ups and placements, making it a great choice.

I am from the "Electronics and Computer Science" branch. If I appear for GATE in the Electronics and Communication (EC) paper, will I still be eligible for the PSU hiring process, considering their strict branch‑specific criteria?

If you are a Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) graduate appearing for GATE in Electronics and Communication (EC) paper, you may face challenges in PSU hiring, since there are specific eligibility for the qualifying degree branch. For example, PSUs like NTPC, BHEL, Power Grid, and NPCIL only accept graduates in BE/B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE). Graduates in ECS may qualify for CS/IT-focused PSUs through CS paper instead. However, recruitment to certain PSUs like ONGC, IOCL will be done through GATE 2026 only.
