IRMA - Institute of Rural Management Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria for PRM Programme

Candidate must be a graduate from any discipline with a minimum 15 years of education (10+2+3). The candidate must have at least 50% aggregate marks (for Gen category) and 45% aggregate marks (for SC/ST/DAP category) at graduation level. In case the university/institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, then the equivalence would be established by IRMA. The equivalent marks can be calculated by dividing obtained CGPA with the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant with 100.

Candidates appearing for the final examinations of their Bachelor degree are also eligible to apply.

Eligibility Criteria for FPRM Programme

Candidate must possess a PGDRM or PGDRDM from IRMA with one year post-diploma and relevant work experience; or

Must have done Post Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or Institution with 55% marks at PG and 50% marks at graduation level; or

He/she must have a five-year professional degree (medicine, veterinary science, architecture etc.) with 60% marks and at least one year work experience; or

He/she must have a four-year professional degree (engineering, agricultural sciences etc.) with 60% marks and at least three years’ work experience;

Applicants having valid score of UGC JRF in relevant disciplines (management, economics, social work, sociology, psychology, commerce, etc.).

Eligibility requirement for candidates belonging to reserved categories is 5% less than the above mentioned percentage criteria.

Note: The candidates must firstly apply for CAT 2015 entrance exam before applying for IRMA 2016. Also, candidates already possessing PGDRM form IRMA and valid UGC JRF scores are exempted from writing IRMA entrance test and they are directly eligible for interview. Only NET is not sufficient, UGC JRF is mandatory.



Reservation of Seats is the distribution and classification of seats for the candidates who belong to reserved categories. To facilitate such candidates with equal opportunity, the Government of India has laid down a criterion for reservation on the seats available for admission.

All the candidates belonging to any categories whether Reserved or General are eligible to apply.

The candidates belonging to the General Category must have 50% marks in aggregate in order to apply for IRMA 2016 and candidates from Reserved Categories must have 45% marks in order to meet the basic eligibility criteria.

Unlike CAT in IRMA there are fixed reservation of seats for the Reserved category. However, Mr. Jairam Misra (Union and Rural Development Minister) quoted that IRMA should reserve some sets for the underprivileged section for the Upliftment of the section.

The General candidate applying for one course will have to pay Rs. 1000 as application fee and Reserved candidates will have to pay Rs.500 for availing the application form. where as, for two courses the general candidates will have to pay Rs.1550 and reserved category candidates will pay Rs.800.

NOTE: There is no fixed pattern that the management college follow regarding the seat allocation. However, there are certain provisions made and privileges that are granted to the reserved category.
