Why Diploma Holders Face Restrictions in Admission?
Although polytechnic diploma holders are allowed to appear for JEE Main, they face certain restrictions when it comes to admission into premier institutes like IITs, NITs, and IIITs. JEE Main is primarily designed for students who complete their Class 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as their core subjects. This curriculum aligns closely with the first-year syllabus of most B.Tech or B.E programs. The Diploma holders need to pass JEE Advanced to get into IITs.
In contrast, a polytechnic diploma focuses more on technical and practical training rather than the full academic coverage of 10+2 science subjects. While diploma programs produce skilled technologists, their academic foundation in theoretical PCM topics often differs from the requirements for JEE Main admissions.
