Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties Weightage in JEE Mains 2025
is 2% which is equivalent to 2 to 3 questions asked in the JEE Mains. The important subtopics that can fetch full marks in the Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties section are atomic radius, ionization energy, electron affinity, and electronegativity. Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties is a scoring chapter from JEE Mains Chemistry where candidates are advised to have a consolidated approach. Students preparing to appear for the
JEE Main 2025 Exam
must note that JEE Mains for the upcoming academic year will be held from January 22, 2025, to January 31, 2025. Candidates should practice JEE Main sample papers, and previous year's question papers to get a hold of better understanding of the topics. In this article, we have focused on the Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties Weightage in the JEE Main 2025 Exam.

FAQs
Repetition of properties after a certain interval is called the periodicity of properties. If elements are arranged in increasing order of their atomic number in the periodic table, then elements repeat their properties after a definite interval.
Scoring over 120 marks in the JEE Mains exam is achievable, and 80% of the score comes from the effort put in during the last two months. This level of success is possible if candidates have at least a basic understanding of how to solve objective questions.
The s-block and p-block together are usually considered the main-group elements, the d-block corresponds to the transition metals, and the f-block corresponds to the inner transition metals and encompasses nearly all of the lanthanides (like lanthanum, praseodymium and dysprosium) and the actinides like actinium, uranium.
Of all the 3 sections in the JEE Main exam, Chemistry is the easiest and most scoring subject. The questions asked in the JEE Main examination are both theoretical and numerical. It is only one of the 3 sections that have year after year the most weightage.
NCERT is excellent for Inorganic Chemistry, and there have been instances of direct NCERT questions being asked in this section. However, other parts of Chemistry, such as Physical Chemistry, require candidates to refer to other learning materials and books specifically created for JEE preparation.
General Category candidates are required to score a minimum of 95+ percentile score to get admission across NITs. For the reserved category candidates, 80+ percentile score is enough to get NITs.
The 75% criteria is not removed from JEE Main 2025 for the General category students. Candidates belonging to the general category have to obtain 75% marks in class 12 for securing admission to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. However, candidates must note that they do not require 75% marks to appear for JEE Mains 2025.
For periodic classification, the syllabus covered by NCERT is more than enough if candidates have read it really well. Majority of the questions come up from the NCERT. But if candidates want to secure top marks, it is preferable to have one reference book for practice and extra points.
Organic chemistry is the most weighted of the three areas, with a consistent weighting practically every year in JEE Main. Important topics for JEE Main Chemistry have been grouped across three sections: organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry.
The Periodic table of elements is one of the most essential concepts in chemistry which helps to learn the periodic trends, physical and chemical characteristics of elements. This classification is based upon the periodic variation in the electronic configuration of atoms.
