Common Mistakes to Avoid on IIFT 2022 Exam Day

Let's say you have spent 6 months in preparing for IIFT 2022 and you have covered the complete IIFT 2022 Syllabus, taken the IIFT 2022 Mock Test and even spent time in solving IIFT 2022 Sample Papers. You would want that the time and effort you have put in preparing for the exam to bear fruit. Hence, it is important to avoid any mistakes on exam day.

Mistake #1: Not Keeping Your Documents Ready

Not keeping your documents ready is one of the easiest mistakes to make on the exam day. It is also the easiest to avoid. Just make sure you have taken a print out of your IIFT 2022 Admit Card and have any of the valid ID proofs ready before the examination day. The ID proofs accepted along with the IIFT admit card are: Aadhar Card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ PAN Card/ Passport.

Mistake #2: Reaching Late to the Exam Centre

Another common mistake candidates usually make is reaching late to the examination centre. Being in a hurry causes unnecessary stress and increases the chances of making mistakes or forgetting something important. It is beneficial to avoid the last-minute rush and reach as early as possible on the exam day. If you are not sure about the location of your exam centre, it is best to check it out a day before the exam or at least have a route planned out on Maps. If you do not have your own vehicle, ensure that you leave early to account for any delays caused due to public transportation.

Mistake #3: Spending Too Much Time on a Question

There are 110 questions to be completed in 2 hours in the IIFT 2022 question paper. It is virtually impossible that any candidate will be able to attempt all of those. Since you will be leaving some of the questions unattempted, it is counted as a mistake to spend too much time on any question. It is better to leave any question that is taking too much time and move on to another. Since you will be getting equal marks for every question, it is always recommended to go for the easiest ones first and then come back later for the more difficult ones. If leaving a question in the first glance feels like a mistake, remember that not being able to score an easy one because you were not able to reach that part of the question paper would be a bigger mistake.

Mistake #4: Not Reading a Question Carefully

Time is a very valuable asset in the IIFT 2022 exam and in the hurry to conserve as much time as possible, candidates often make the mistake of not reading a question carefully or glancing over important information in the question. Every information that you require to get to the answer is given in the question. Hence, giving it a careful read and understanding every given information is important before you even start attempting to get to an answer. If you are unable to understand a question, read it again. However, if the question seems a bit too difficult, make sure you are not making Mistake #3.

Mistake #5: Not Following the Invigilator's Instructions

While you are at the examination centre, it is vital to follow the instructions given out by your invigilator. You can be disqualified if you do not follow the invigilator's instructions. No matter how brilliant or well-prepared you are for the IIFT 2022 exam, this simple mistake can cause you to lose all of the time and effort spent in preparation. The invigilators are there to help you out and maintain decorum in the examination centre. If you have any grudges, you can contact the exam authorities after the exam has been conducted.

Mistake #6: Carrying Any Prohibited Items in the Exam Hall

Carrying any prohibited items inside the exam hall can land you in trouble on IIFT 2022 exam day. Make sure that you are not carrying any metallic object or scrap piece of paper on you inside the exam hall. Clean out your pockets and double-check for any prohibited items. If you have to carry your phone to the exam centre, make sure that the centre has a storage facility or you can store it somewhere safe in your vehicle.

Mistake #7: Attempting Doubtful Questions

If you are doubtful about a question, it is better to just avoid it altogether and move on to the next question. Since there is negative marking in the IIFT 2022 exam, ticking off the wrong answer can cause you to lose marks. You can make a couple of calculated guesses in the paper but avoid them if possible. It is better to time on a question where you are sure of the results.

Mistake #8: Not Having an Exam Strategy

Not forming any kind of a strategy in your mind can be a very big mistake, especially when it comes to the IIFT exam. This is because there is no sectional time limit in the exam and candidates have to clear the sectional cutoff for admission. Hence, it is important to give the correct amount of time to each section. Spending a lot of time on a section that you find easy may increase your score but it places you at the risk of not clearing the sectional cutoff in another. Hence, make sure you have a strategy planned out and the number of attempts in each section in your mind before the exam day.

Mistake #9: Not Keeping an Eye on the Clock

Make sure that you have an eye on the clock and are aware of exactly how much time you have left in the exam. This will help you avoid giving too much time to any section or question in IIFT 2022. It may sometimes get easy to lose track of time while you are going through the paper. However, this is a mistake that you have to avoid.
