The IIFT exam had objective type questions. Candidates were given multiple options, out of which they had to pick the correct response. Writing Skill Assessment

  • This is the first step of the Selection Procedure of IIFT 2019. The ones who mark their place in the cut-off list of IIFT 2019 will be eligible to sit for this round.

  • The round has been planned to check the writing skills of the candidates. To see the approach of the candidates towards a particular topic along with their critical analysis is also a thing that gets examined in the Writing Skill Assessment round.

  • The topic will be given on the spot, and the candidates will be told to complete the essay within the stipulated time.

  • The topic and the time duration will be set by the admission selection authorities of the IIFT and any query regarding the round must be brought up to the authority without delays.

  • The topic for the Writing Skill Assessment can come from the various sectors including Politics, Management, Business, Corporate World, Indian Economy or the Scenario of Economy around the Globe, Sports, Media and Communication, Social Reforms and the Society, Law and Amendments, Aspiring Leaders and their Achievements, etc.

  • After the completion of this round and declaration of the result, selected candidates will be sent for the next round Selection Procedure.

Group Discussion (GD)

  • The second step of the Selection Process is the Group Discussion (GD) round. Candidates who clear the writing skill assessment round will be eligible to sit for the GD round organised by IIFT.

  • The motive for this round is to test the thinking capabilities and knowledge of the candidates. They are also judged on their way of speaking and debating skills during the discussion.

  • The topics for the round can emerge from any of the prominent subjects mostly including Economics, Management, Business, Politics, Science and Technology, Media and Mass Communication, Law, Sports, Literature, etc.

  • Selected candidates sit in groups to discuss on topics given to them. Once the topic for the discussion is given to the candidates, then they are allotted with the preparation time for the Group Discussion.

  • During this preparation time, candidates prepare their points of discussion that can help them hit good marks in the GD round.

  • Candidates are sent in for the GD round in group of 7-8 members.

  • The round then starts with the discussion, now the trick that candidates can use here is to counter question on the points being put forth by the other candidates. The only thing to keep in mind is that, the points used must be valid and correct.

  • Considering the factors of GD round and the performance of the candidates, the result is announced. Candidates selected in this round will be able to sit for the next round of Selection Procedure.

Personal Interview (PI)

  • This is technically the final round of the Selection Process of IIFT 2019. Candidates clearing the Group Discussion round will be able to sit for the interview session organised by IIFT.

  • As the name suggests, the round is about interviewing candidates on a personal one to one level.

  • Each candidate gets a time to sit for the Personal Interview session. A panel of judges ask different questions to the candidate and examine their answers on terms decided by these judges.

  • The main aim to organize this round is to understand the mental level of the candidates and to judge their understanding towards the course they are about to opt for along with their interest in the subject-matter.

  • The questions asked by the judges can be anything from any field or personal life of the candidate. Therefore, the candidates must be ready to answer the different questions with confidence and smartness.

  • Once the round of interviews gets over, the result will be declared, finalizing the list of the candidates for the round of admission into the two branches of the IIFT.

  • The GD & PI will take place in the month of February at various cities including Mumbai, Lucknow, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi, Chennai and Bengaluru.

  • The shortlisted candidates have to submit Statement of Purpose (SoP) which is considered as a significant criterion for the selection procedure at IIFT.

  • Initially, with the start of the Selection Procedure the candidates will have to pay the requisite fee.

  • Later, the candidates can choose campuses (either New Delhi or Kolkata).

  • Based on the choices made by the candidates, seat allotment is done. However, the candidates who get good selected in the Selection Process of IIFT entrance examination will be given first preference during the seat allotment.
