IIFT 2021 Exam Pattern

Having knowledge about IIFT exam pattern is the first step towards IIFT exam preparation. The conducting authority, i.e. Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) determines the exam pattern of IIFT entrance exam. According to the paper pattern of IIFT, the test is held in online mode for all MBA-IB aspirants. In order to appear for IIFT entrance exam, candidates must be aware of its exam pattern. 

Before registering for the IIFT entrance exam, candidates must have familiarity with IIFT exam pattern. As per the specifications laid by the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, IIFT exam has multiple-type of questions. Candidates have to mark the most appropriate response from the four choices available. IIFT is conducted within 2 hours, therefore candidates must manage their time accordingly to complete the entrance exam.

The most distinct feature of IIFT exam pattern is the differential marking scheme. The allocated marks of each section of the IIFT question paper will differ from section to section.   • IIFT 2021 will be a computer-based entrance exam.

  • The schedule of IIFT 2021 entrance will be released by the middle of August 2020 by the examination conducting authority.

  • The candidates appearing in the entrance will not be provided admissions to the IIFT Dar-es-Salaam campus through this examination.

  • The scoring pattern, the number of sections in the question paper of IIFT 2021 might vary or change.

  • Opportunity for the admissions to Kakinada campus may or may not be provided through the IIFT 2021 entrance. 

Important Features of IIFT Exam Pattern

Before appearing for IIFT, candidates must read the below-mentioned IIFT exam pattern prescribed by the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT).

  • IIFT exam is conducted in online mode.
  • The total duration of IIFT exam is two hours (120 minutes).
  • The exam is based on section-wise format, consisting of six sections including English Grammar, Vocabulary and Comprehension, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation and Quantitative Analysis.
  • Objective/Multiple type of questions will be asked in IIFT 2019 entrance exam, wherein candidates need to choose only one appropriate answer from the four choices.
  • The marks distribution of each section in IIFT 2020 exam differs from each other.
  • There is a different negative marking scheme for each section in the IIFT exam. 1/3 of the marks are deducted for every wrong answer.

IIFT Marking Scheme

In IIFT, the marking scheme of each section differs section-wise. The below table shows the different marking scheme of each section and the total number of questions in the IIFT 2021 exam. The total number of questions for IIFT 2021 examination have not yet been published by the exam conducting authority. However, candidates may consider IIFT 2021 exam pattern to start off with their preparation for the 2021 session of IIFT. Keeping IIFT 2021 in mind, there will be a total of 123 questions in the exam which must be attempted by the candidates. 

Note: There will be a negative marking of 1/3 marks for every wrong answer.

IIFT 2021 - Important Highlights

To end all confusion in the minds of the candidates who aspire to appear in the IIFT 2021 entrance, CollegeDekho has provided certain important highlights:

  • The number of sections in the IIFT question paper has been increased from 4 to 6. 

  • Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability are two different sections for the candidates. These two sections will not compensate each other from the IIFT 2021.

  • Similarly, Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation are also to be considered to be two different sections. 

  • Candidates appearing in the examination will not be able to compensate the unattempted questions of Data Interpretation (DI) by attempting the questions of Logical Reasoning (LR) and vice versa.

  • Earlier, the number of questions asked in the IIFT entrance used to be 123. It has been reduced to 114. To add on, there is no fixed number of questions which will be asked in the IIFT 2021 entrance. The number of questions to be asked can vary from 114 to 130.

  • The total number of marks allotted in IIFT 2021 entrance will be 100. Candidates are advised to check the marking scheme of IIFT 2021 for more detailed updates.

IIFT Exam Duration

As prescribed by the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, IIFT exam will be conducted within two hours (120 minutes). During this time frame, candidates will have to complete the questions asked in the exam.

IIFT Question Paper

IIFT question paper will be objective in nature i.e. it will have multiple choice type of questions. While appearing for IIFT 2021, candidates will have to choose one option from the four options available.
