Here is the list of Distance Learning courses in the stream of Arts and Humanities along with eligibility, admission process and fee details.

Arts and Humanities Courses Offered in Distance Education mode

With Coronavirus pandemic imposing a curfew on regular course programmes, pursuing a degree in distance learning mode or online distance learning mode (ODLP) has become the latest thing amongst students through which they can easily pursue their Bachelor’s degree or Masters degree studies without even going to the college/institution regularly. There are many reasons behind the growing number of students who wish to pursue their undergraduate or postgraduate degree studies from the correspondence mode like earning while studying to boost their chances of employment post completion of their studies, inability to afford the cost of pursuing their UG/PG degree studies in regular mode and many more. The credibility of pursuing a course in the ODLP mode was may be frowned upon in the past, but given the present times, online distance learning seems to have become the latest trend in education, especially with the UGC recognising the top colleges offering distance learning degrees.

Arts and Humanities stream courses have always attracted the maximum number of students who want to pursue their studies in the distance learning mode. One of the major reasons behind the popularity of arts & humanities courses in distance learning mode is these courses have no or very less practical scope due to the presence of vast theoretical resources.

With the Novel Coronavirus wreaking havoc globally, many educational institutions have been forced to conduct classes in online mode which seems to the future of higher education in India - at least for the next 3 to 4 years if not more. Keeping in mind this thing, CollegeDekho decided to explore all those popular arts and humanities stream courses which are offered in online/distance/correspondence mode along with the top distance learning universities/institutions in India which offers them, their eligibility criteria, detailed admission process, average fee etc.

Why is Distance Learning Method Gaining Popularity

Before we divulge deep into the list of popular Arts and Humanities courses and the institutes offering them and many more, it is imperative that we list down the major reasons behind the rising popularity of pursuing higher education through distance learning mode -

  • Doing a part-time/full-time job along with studies - The prospect of doing a job while at the same time pursuing their higher studies has enchanted the young minds of today’s generation. Distance learning mode is a blessing in disguise for those students who want to pursue their higher education while at the same time gaining valuable job experience with an organization. In short, the students can “Learn while they Earn”

  • Save time and money - Students opting for their higher education studies from a distance learning mode can save a lot of time and money. It is a no-brainer that the cost of study in the distance learning mode is much less if compared to the regular mode. Also, in distance learning mode, the students do not have to go to their colleges/institutions on a daily basis due to which they can save a lot of their transportation time and redirect the same into something productive

  • Learning at own pace - One of the biggest advantages of distance mode of education is that the students can learn at their own pace. Each student has his/her own way of learning things and at different speeds as well. In distance mode of study, the students have the time factor on their side as there are no professors or lecturers who would hang a sword above their head to teach things or topics within a given time set

  • Study from wherever, whenever - Another advantage of pursuing a higher degree study in distance learning mode is the students can access their study material from anywhere in the world and anytime they like. The students have the freedom to choose their study time and venue as per their comfort

  • Distance degrees are recognised by employers - One issue that has haunted the students who want to opt for a distance learning mode of study is of their degrees are recognised by the employers. Currently, all the Distance Education Council (DEC) approved courses are recognised by both the private employers and central government sectors. This means that the students can pursue their dream degree from the open mode without having to fear about their employability
