The Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Delhi, which is the conducting body of GATE 2020 has started with the application correction form procedure from Tuesday, 15th October 2019. The GATE exam is conducted for admissions in Masters level Technology and Science (M.Tech and M.Sc) courses in the premier institutes of India such as IITs, NITs, IIST, IISER, IISc, etc. This is a dream examination to crack for many bright minds in the country. In the form correction method, the students will be edit or change their preferred stream, name, gender, preferred city, quota, PwD status, dyslexia status, DOB, parents name, etc. The candidates will be given a specified time period to make the changes in the GATE 2020 application form in exchange for a negligible amount of charges.

The candidate who is willing to change his/her details previously entered by mistake in his academic or personal life can complete it in a given timeframe through the GOAPS portal which is the common portal for GATE Online Application. The data change will take place only in an online method.

GATE Application Form Correction 2020 - Important Dates

The form correction process for 2020 GATE has started from 15th October 2019. The dates are released by the Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Delhi and are subject to change in case of any unavoidable situation. Students can visit the portal of GOAPS for the application form correction within the specified time-frame. Following are the dates of GATE Application form correction 2020:

How to Change/Correct GATE 2020 Application Form

The student should follow all the mandatory steps to make changes in the GATE 2020 application form. The students must make a note of the changes or errors which have to be changed or rectified. Then, the students can change the details furnished by following the steps mentioned below:

  • The student must visit the GOAPS portal first which is https://appsgate.iitd.ac.in/ for GATE 2020. The portal URL is subject to change each year with the change of the conducting IITs.

  • The candidate must log in to the website using the Application Number, E-Mail ID, and Password which was created below at the time of fresh application.

  • After logging in, there will be an option to edit the form. The students can make changes in the form accordingly.

  • The candidates must note that the change in subjects and the examination center (city) is chargeable. The candidates can change them by paying some extra amount.

  • After making all the changes, the candidate will have to click on the submit button to confirm the changes,

The candidates are suggested to take a print out of the newly generated (corrected) form for any kind of future reference.

GATE 2020 Form Correction Parameters

All of the specific changes the candidate wishes to make have some criteria and there are certain methods the candidates have to follow. Following are the sections accepting changes and their criteria:

  • No to Yes: No charges to be paid and no refund will be issued must produce acceptable documents. Will be allowed scribe if opted.

  • Yes to No: Extra 750 rupees to be paid

Exam Paper

With the payment of 300 rupees or 10 dollars for candidates outside India.

Exam Centre (City)

  • Inside in India: 400 Rupees

  • Outside India (Dhaka, Addis Ababa, Colombo and Kathmandu): 3550 Rupees

  • Outside India (Dubai and Singapore): 7110 Rupees

  • Inside India for Foreign Candidates: No Fees

  • In Dhaka, Addis Ababa, Colombo or Kathmandu for Foreign Candidates: 10 Dollars or 740 Rupees

  • In Dubai or Singapore (if previous was Dhaka, Addis Ababa, Colombo or Kathmandu) for Foreign Candidates: 4290

Most Common Mistakes in GATE 2020 Form

While filling the form for the first time, candidates tend to make mistakes in certain sections in most cases. Some mistakes happen because of spelling mistake and some happen because of any kind of website-bug or not being able to understand certain things in the form. Some of the most common mistakes that happen take place in the following areas:

  • Name

  • Parents' Names

  • Address

  • Category

  • Date of Birth

  • Gender
